Crisis on Infinite Earths continues to perform well for The CW. However, The Moodys saw a sharp decline in the TV ratings for Dec. 9. Here’s a look.

Batwoman saw an upward tick in the TV ratings for its part in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. It was another strong episode, but the same couldn’t be said for everything that aired on Dec. 9.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way. FOX had a bad night. There is no other way to put it. While Beat Shazam returned with more viewers than Crisis, the demo was below. That says a lot considering Crisis airs on The CW!

In fact, Beat Shazam returned with a 23% drop in the audience and a 19% drop in the demo. That wasn’t the only slip, with The Moodys matching Black Lightning‘s demo of 0.3. It was a 57% drop for the Christmas-themed episode, with a 53% drop in the total audience. Those figures did hold steady for the second half-hour episode, but it’s still a bad night for FOX.

Other networks had a much better night. We’ll start with NBC, which had a full slate of new episodes of TV shows. It all started with The Voice, which pulled in the highest demo and the highest audience of the night. Making It also saw a 25% increase in the demo and 53% increase in the total audience. This is the season finale, so that’s not all that surprising. I don’t think it’s enough to save the show, though.

CBS and ABC mostly had new episodes. The Great Christmas Light Fight took up two hours, with the first hour pulling in a 14% increase in the demo and a 24% increase in the audience. The uptick in the demo continued in the second hour, but there was a slip in the total audience.

Meanwhile, CBS had excellent results with its comedy start. The Neighborhood was up 28% in the demo and 3% in the total audience, pulling in the second-highest audience of the night. It was joint second in the demo with ABC.

Bob Hearts Abishola held steady in the demo from the previous episode and ticked up in the total audience. Sadly, All Rise couldn’t hold steady, dropping to a low of 0.5 in the demo. I don’t think this is too bad right now considering shows are getting ready to wrap up for the winter. With networks choosing different weeks for different shows, it’s hard to keep track!

The CW had one of the best nights with Crisis on Infinite Earths holding it’s 0.6 demo from the Supergirl episode on Sunday. The total audience even ticked up very slightly from 1.67 million to 1.69 million. Fans needed to know if that was really it for a certain character. It’s going to be interesting to see how the third episode, which is The Flash tonight, will perform.

These upward ticks were great for Black Lightning. The demo and total audience were up 50%. Sadly, it likely won’t hold and I do think the series will be renewed for a fourth and final season in 2020.
