While a number of shows like Supernatural and Legacies aired their fall finales, The Great American Baking Show Season 5 premiered. Here are the TV ratings for Dec. 12.

The Great American Baking Show Season 5 premiered on Dec. 5. Meanwhile, Supernatural, Legacies, and more aired their fall finales. It’s time to break down the Live + Same Day TV ratings for the broadcast networks.

FOX dominated the night in both the demo and total audience. That wasn’t all that surprising that the Cowboys faced the Bears in NFL Thursday. However, Young Sheldon‘s fall finale wasn’t all that behind. It pulled in 8.21 million viewers compared to the football’s 9.02 million. The demo was behind, but it was joint top for the night, despite a 9% fall.

The other top demo of the night was Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways, which held steady from the previous episode. The audience was down by almost 2%, though. That episode didn’t help the fall finales on NBC all that much. Superstore was down 11% in the demo (although up 6% in the audience) and Perfect Harmony fell 7% and 4% in the demo and audience respectively. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about Superstore, but Perfect Harmony remains on my list of shows likely to be canceled.

ABC had a mixed night. It opted for specials of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and Toy Story That Time Forgot. They were never going to perform extremely well, but were great options for parents who needed something for kids that were still up. The focus for ABC was on the debut of The Great American Baking Show Season 5. It managed to hold steady from the finale of the previous season.

Great, right? Well, yes and no. While it held steady, the second hour dropped 7% in the total audience.

So, how did CBS fair after Young Sheldon? Sadly, The Unicorn slipped but I’m not sure this is a bad thing. In fact, Mom slipped too in the demo. If the two big comedies are going to slip then so are the newer ones and this should be something CBS takes into account.

Carol’s Second Act and EVIL both saw boosts to their audiences, so certainly positives to take away for the network. Of course, it’s only Carol’s Second Act we’re keeping an eye on because EVIL has already been renewed. I’m on the fence about the freshman comedy.

Then it’s over to The CW, which aired its Supernatural and Legacies fall finales. Both held steady in their demos at a good 0.3 (good for the network, anyway). Both audiences ticked up. Supernatural was up by 4%, while Legacies ticked up 7% to 0.93 million. Could the winter premiere see a tick over the million marker?

We know Supernatural is ending, so the ratings for that are more to see if the series can end on a high. As for Legacies, I have no doubt that the series will be renewed.
