I Am Not Okay With This should be renewed for Season 2
I Am Not Okay With This is one easy and hilarious binge-watch, but it’s also a series with a lot of heart. It needs to be renewed for a second season.
If you haven’t watched I Am Not Okay With This Season 1 yet, get on Netflix right now. Seriously, stop reading this and pull up the streamer on your phone. Within minutes of the first episode you’ll be hooked, needing to know what happens at the end. And then you’ll understand why this show needs to be renewed for a second season.
This is a series that looks like some dark comedy on the surface. It looks like an American version of End of the F***ing World, and that’s exactly how it will feel throughout the season. However, there’s another story playing a part in this season. It’s not about a group of teens on the run while finding out who they are, but about one teen dealing with superpowers while figuring out who she is and how to deal with grief.

In I Am Not Okay With This, Sydney Novak is just trying to get through high school life. That’s not so easy when you realize you have powers. She’s able to make things happen when she gets angry and agitated, but there’s more to her.
Throughout the season, we see her dealing with two major internal problems. She’s coming to terms with her sexuality while dealing with the death of her dad. Many of us have been through one or both of these situations. It keeps the superpower element of the story grounded, bringing heart and soul to the series; bringing something that we can all relate to.
She’s a sibling who has become a parent with a mother she doesn’t really like. And that happens as we hit puberty. I was awful to my mom around this age. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it’s something we both got past and I quickly learned that my mom was the one person I could always rely on. I still can.
This is a series that will speak volumes to so many people. It’s also a series that leaves us with plenty of questions, including who the guy is that Sydney meets at the end. So, we need I Am Not Okay With This Season 2 to get those answers.
We’re not going to find out for a while if the show is canceled or renewed. We should find out towards the end of March if it’s renewed.
