As multiple networks aired Super Tuesday, FOX kept its schedule normal. Here’s how The Resident fared thanks to a night of politics in the TV ratings.

As we wonder about the fate of The Resident, we have some great news. With a night of politics, the TV ratings for the medical drama were up. Here’s a look at the full night.

There wasn’t much in the way of TV shows on Mar. 3. Super Tuesday took over on CBS, ABC, and NBC. If only one network had aired politics, it would have likely won the night, but with multiple networks trying to get a shot at the ratings, they were relatively low.

In fact, CBS may wish that it opted for its usual Tuesday night lineup. The total audience and demo were the lowest at 2.52 million and 0.3. This is way down compared to the Democratic debate, which saw 13 million people tune in.

ABC and NBC didn’t fare all that much better. They saw 2.72 million/0.5 and 2.81 million/0.6 respectively.

The Resident certainly benefitted from a night of politics, and despite a three-week break. The audience was up a whopping 21% to pull in 4.80 million, while the demo was up 14% to a 0.8 rating. The total audience is the highest of the entire season, with the demo just behind the Season 3 premiere. It really does suggest a scheduling problem for the medical drama.

The only other new episode of a series to air was Empire. The show is coming to an end and returns after its winter hiatus. Sadly, the results weren’t great. The audience was lower than politics, pulling in 2.46 million (down 2.5%). The demo was the same as NBC’s Super Tuesday results, at 0.6, but that was a 16% fall from the winter finale.
