One of Bravo Team’s experienced made a huge mistake on SEAL Team. While someone else was to blame in the end, will that mistake come back?

SEAL Team delivered a powerful episode that focused on truth. As Bravo Team tried to figure out who made the career-ending mistake, some were willing to lie. That’s not what Ray wanted, even if it mean one of his own could be put in the firing line. In the end, the truth came out—in more ways than one.

Caution: There are spoilers for SEAL Team Season 3, Episode 13 in this post.

Who made the career-ending mistake that killed the CIA asset? That would be Vic. Not only did he throw a homewrecker into the room with the asset, but he lied about it to cover his own skin. He was willing to let Ray go down for it all just to keep his place on Bravo Team. Needless to say, the truth came out and Vic was the one to be sent home; patch removed and all.

But there’s still the problem of two explosions. There’s still the issue of one of the experienced Bravo Team members throwing the wrong grenade. Ray admits that he threw a homewrecker instead of a flashbang. It was a rookie mistake that he should never have made.

Before Vic was found to be the guilty party, Ray was going to be the one to go down for the mistake. While he didn’t want it to happen, he knew that he had to face the music. Now it seems like he’ll get off after making such a huge mistake.

I honestly thought that the SEAL Team writers would do it so Vic had actually switched out Ray’s weapons. I thought we’d see that Vic had taken one of Ray’s homewreckers to make Ray doubt himself; to make it look like Ray was the guilty party. That didn’t happen, so it means that Ray did throw a homewrecker. While that wasn’t the blast that killed the CIA asset, he still made a huge error in judgment.

Is this going to come back to haunt him? We’ve seen Ray make mistakes and it’s played on his mind for episodes (translate that to weeks and months) after the fact. Remember when he threw a grenade that accidentally killed a kid because he couldn’t admit that he should have sat out the mission due to injury? That haunted him for so long afterward.

Would this haunt him, too? While Ray knows he’s not perfect, he also doesn’t take his actions lightly. He always wants the truth to come out, and I fully respect him for that. I love his character and Neil Brown Jr. does such a wonderful job, so it seems off that Ray’s mistake now will be swept under the carpet.

SEAL Team Season 3 is setting up Ray to go for warrant officer. One small mistake could lead to the loss of this promotion. Is the show setting him up to fail for this because of this mistake or is it just going to be a private lesson for Ray to look at what he’s throwing first?
