In order for The Walking Dead to continue, there has to be movement forward. That involves multiple possibilities.

First and foremost, the main group needs to remain strong. There needs to be core that makes it through the final assault, and we have to like that group. If the only people who survive are second fiddle characters, the fan-base loses interest. It’s all about likability.

Secondly, it’s time to get past the Whisperers. How long can we go through Greek alphabet? Once Beta and his horde is gone, will Gamma take charge? Maybe the group will be more deadly when we get past Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta. After all, Eta would be the perfect name for a leader.

Please let it come true. Already.

Regarding the initial point, the group needs to be likable. As such, please let Princess die. I know she’s a new addition to The Walking Dead, but it’s time for her to go. She’s too odd, too eccentric, too loud.

Her forgetfulness will kill someone in the group we actually like. Since her path has already diverged from the original story in the comics, let’s hope she’s not being counted on as a consistent, future character.

Future seasons = good guys win

The second point is clear: Beta has to die. The Whisperers have to disband. Maybe some of them will even be absorbed into the main group like the The Saviors.

We need a new story arc, and the Commonwealth segue is nearly perfect. One nemesis departs and a more secretive group emerges, ready to hook the entire The Walking Dead audience for a brand new season.
