SWAT, the cop drama starring Shemar Moore, has been considered a “bubble” show for months. Fans can rejoice at its Season 4 renewal.

Averaging about four million viewers this season, SWAT wasn’t considered a lock for a Season 4 renewal. In fact, fans were concerned this ensemble series wouldn’t be returning. But the recent announcement that the show will return for another season of action-packed episodes caused a surge of excitement among dedicated viewers who felt that the series deserved another season because of the strength of its episodes this season.

SWAT has had some breakout storylines during its third season. It’s April 8 episode focused on suicide awareness while some of the others have focused on drunk driving, potential police corruption, and homelessness.

Series star, Shemar Moore, took to his Facebook page today to celebrate the news with his fans. The post has over 9,000 likes and 1,000 comments, all of which are voices of thrilled fans eager for the return of their favorite series.

"🔥🔥 Aaayyyyeeeee!!!!!!! Homies, Fans, n Baby Girls!!!!!!! We did it and it’s only possible because you ride with us every week!!!! Season 4 … HERE WE COME …. HERE COME THAT MAN 👊🏽👊🏽💪🏽💪🏽💣💣🔥🔥"

Of course, with the current pandemic, there is no way to know when SWAT will be able to resume filming so the possibility of an early fall start may be questionable. At present, production is shut down on television shows, although All Rise did film a creative virtual episode. That would be virtually impossible for action shows like SWAT to accomplish, though.

CBS also renewed SEAL Team, Blue Bloods, the NCIS franchise, Bull, which was also considered a bubble show, and All Rise as well as several others. It left little room on its slate for new dramas, which makes sense considering the current state of the pilot season.
