Cursed ending explained: Are [Spoiler] and [Spoiler] dead?
Cursed Season 1 delivered a powerful tale of survival, loyalty, and honor
You likely spent the whole weekend being-watching Cursed on Netflix. It was certainly a well-written series, bringing the graphic novel to life. If you have questions about the ending, here’s the Cursed ending explained.
There were some major character reveals throughout the series. We got to meet the main Knights of the Round Table in the Arthurian legend, as well as seeing the development of Morgana from nun to Angel of Death. But there were plenty of other storylines happening around them.

We’ll start with the siblings, and arguably the easiest storylines to break down from the ending. Morgana followed Nimue’s instructions to get The Sword of the First King out of dodge. However, she came across the deceased Sister Celia, who wanted Morgana to take the sword to the Cailleach.
Morgana realized that this was all some sort of trap and Nimue wasn’t going to survive the fight. Instead of taking the sword to the Cailleach, she heads back to the battle to get the sword back to Nimue. While there, she kills The Widow and becomes her.
Now, Morgana can see who is about to die. Why doesn’t she know about Nimue? Or does she?
What Morgana does know is that Floki Merlin is about to die. They get to him and get out of the camp, which is where Sister Iris shoots Nimue with a couple of arrows. Nimue falls off the bridge into the water, catching us up to the beginning of Cursed.
Merlin gets the sword and he gets his powers back. It turns out the sword was the reason for his lost powers, but now he’s back in full force.
Meanwhile, Arthur was leading the group of Fey to the ships that Uther promised. Of course, the Paladins had made a deal with the Northern king, and they attacked the Fey on the beach. Don’t worry; the Red Spear came to help the Fey, which saw Arthur save the life of the Red Spear’s captain. I have a sense this is Guinevere.
Squirrel and the Weeping Monk
During the Cursed finale, we learned who the Weeping Monk really was. He was born of the Fey, but his father had raised him to believe in the teachings of the Lord to save him from the hellfire.
However, the Weeping Monk had started to hate his work, especially because he refused to kill the children. When Squirrel is taken by the Paladins, the Weeping Monk saves him and rides off, presumably to find either the other Fey or Nimue.
It turns out the Weeping Monk is Lancelot and Squirrel is Percival. See, plenty of reveals! They are now friends of sorts.
Gawain is left behind
While a prisoner of Uther Pendragon, Nimue wanted to see Gawain and Squirrel. The Paladins brought Gawain, who was dead by that point. That’s not surprising considering the stab wound to his abdomen and the torture.
Nimue used her connection to the Hidden to try to bring Gawain back to life. It’s not clear whether this happened.
Gawain was left with the green markings of the Hidden on his face and then the grass grew and covered him, almost like it was pulling him back into the Earth. Was this the Hidden’s way of healing him? Is the Hidden infusing him with some of its powers?
There’s clearly more to this, but characters seem to have forgotten about him. Nimue just left him behind.
Of course, Nimue is currently at the bottom of a body of water with arrows stuck in her. It looks like she’s dead, but is this the way for her to become the Lady of the Lake?
Sister Iris gets her goal
Finally, we have Sister Iris. Nimue and Merlin both had their roles in getting rid of the Paladins. It looks like they’re weakened, if not destroyed completely. However, there’s another Christian group that threatens all Fey.
The Trinity Guard was cut down a little by Lancelot, but not completely removed. After “killing” Nimue and being struck by Merlin’s lightning, Sister Iris was allowed to join the Trinity Guard. She finally has her place in the world, and we know she’s going to be a big problem for the Fey.
We’re left with characters scattered. Morgana and Merlin will need to figure out their next moves, while the Fey will need to get on those ships to safety. Meanwhile, Uther is left without the sword and still with the enemy of his cousin, all with the reveal that he isn’t even the true child of the Pendragons!
As for Nimue, she can’t possibly be dead, right?
