Star Trek: Every title sequence ranked
By Alex Simmons
It’s time to rank every Star Trek title sequence, from the original series to now
What’s your favorite Star Trek title sequence?
After an intriguing teaser or a jarring cold open, a show’s title sequence gives us the familiar theme song and a chance to run to the kitchen for a snack before the story resumes (assuming you’re not watching on streaming or DVR).
Star Trek title sequences all have a few things in common (for the most part). Sweeping orchestral music, gentle camera shots panning over gorgeous stellar phenomena, and the credits of the main cast.

With the premiere of Star Trek: Lower Decks earlier this month, the total number of Trek television series produced by the long-running sci-fi franchise has reached eight. (Nine if you include the animated version of The Original Series.)
Which one is the best? It depends on who you ask. Star Trek fans are a passionate lot, and they have some OPINIONS about all aspects of the franchise past and present.
How about we set out to rank every Star Trek title sequence objectively?
On the criteria of visuals, music, and how accurately the sequence represents what its series is all about, we will rank every opening title sequence for a Star Trek series. Please note that because they are both nearly identical, Star Trek: The Animated Series will not be considered for this ranking.
