Gilmore Girls 20th year anniversary

It is hard to believe that Gilmore Girls, the original American comedy-drama television series finished 20 years ago. Lorelai Gilmore, a single mother played by Lauren Graham lives with her 16-year-old daughter Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) in Star Hollows, Connecticut.

They have an inseparable and close mother-daughter bond. Lorelai’s parents Richard (Ed Hermann) and Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop) are rich live in Hartford, Connecticut. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved Warner Bros series, let’s look back at the top 20 moments.

Let’s look back at the top 20 moments from Gilmore Girls

1. Season 1, Episode 2, “The Lorelais’ First Day At Chilton”

Rory’s first day at Chilton (exclusive prep school)  is a momentous and occasion for the Gilmore Girls. The Gilmore Girls looked forward to the day, but the day goes from bad to worst. In the morning, Lorelai oversleeps and Rory wakes her up and she rushes to get dressed, but all her clothes are at dry cleaning.

She ends up wearing a t-shirt, cut off jeans, and cowboy boots. Rory is not pleased with her outfit, but she will be late for school if her Mum changes her outfit. Lorelai drives Rory to Chilton and they get out of the car and Lorelai’s outfit gets looks from disapproving Chilton mothers. Lorelai makes a bad first impression on headmaster Charleston, but a good impression on one of the Chilton’s fathers.

2. Season 3 finale, “Those Are Strings, Pinocchio”

More from Entertainment

As Rory’s highly anticipated Chilton (high school) graduation approaches, the Gilmore Girls organize their summer plans together. The moment I love in this episode is when Rory does her graduation speech.

I cried when I watched this, as Rory says, “my mother never gave me any idea that I couldn’t do whatever I wanted to do or be whoever I wanted to be. I don’t know if she ever realized that the person I most wanted to be was her.”

3. Season 4, Episode 21, “Last week Fights, This Week Tights”

Luke invites Lorelai as his wedding date to his sister Liz and TJ’s renaissance wedding. Both of them are enjoying each other’s company and Luke asks Lorelai to waltz. They share a special and warm moment together. When they are dancing the two of them are smiling and cannot stop looking at each other and draw closer and closer together. By the end of the dance, Lorelai is standing on Luke’s feet. It is such a cute moment because they both start to realize that they like each other more than best friends.

4. Season 4, Episode 22, “Raincoats and Recipes”

Lorelai senses from Luke that he has strong feelings towards her, but she tries to thank her mind of this as it is opening day for her own inn “The Dragonfly Inn”. Lorelai invites her family and friends to a test opening run. Luke comes and Lorelai becomes clumsy when around him. He tries to express his true feelings for Lorelai, but is interrupted by her ex-boyfriend Jason Styles who tries to win her back. Luke at the end of the episode, declares his feelings for Lorelai and they share their first magical kiss.

5. Season 2, Episode 3, “Red Light On The Wedding Night”

When Luke builds Lorelai a chuppah for her and her fiancee’s Max’s wedding to stand under for their wedding. It was a thoughtful act from Luke who is always a best friend for Lorelai. Luke carved the chuppah out of wood. It was a wedding gift for Lorelai to apologize for him being a jerk to Max. Lorelai is completely touched by Luke’s grand gesture and they both stand under the chuppah together.
