A breakdown of the live TV ratings for Friday, Oct. 9

It shouldn’t be surprising to hear that ABC dominated the night in the live TV ratings on a Friday night once more. It’s time to breakdown the ratings for Friday, Oct. 9.

ABC had a new episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live and the 2020 NBA Finals. Both of these have continued to perform well on the network, with Jimmy Kimmel Live starting the night strong with 5.01 million people tuning in and a 1.3 demo rating. The basketball would pull in 5.71 million viewers and a 2.0 demo rating.

FOX attempted to compete with the WWE SmackDown event, but it would only pull in 2.09 million viewers and a 0.6 demo rating. The rating was the best out of the four networks that weren’t ABC. However, the total audience didn’t beat CBS.

CBS, The CW, and NBC in the live TV ratings

CBS had new episodes of The Greatest #AtHome Videos and Undercover Boss. While the two didn’t perform well against the previous new episodes, they did beat the WWE in the total audience.

The Greatest #AtHome Videos was down 11% in the audience, but pulled in 3.17 million viewers. It was down 20% in the demo with a 0.4 rating. Undercover Boss fell for a second week in the row, down 14% and 40% respectively.

The CW had a good night, with Masters of Illusion up 23% in the audience and steady in the demo compared to the previous Friday episode. World’s Funniest Animals was steady in both.

NBC’s newest episode of Dateline also performed well. It was up 15% and 25% in the audience and demo respectively.

There’s nothing to worry about with the shows just yet. Even Undercover Boss, which is down. The shows are among the cheapest to create, and the networks should have lower expectations since they’re not airing the usual fall lineups.
