A breakdown of the live TV ratings for Monday, Oct. 12

Columbus Day is one of those U.S. holidays that sees a lot of people around the TV on the evening. That was certainly the case on Monday, Oct. 12, which saw the majority of TV shows tick up or steady in the live TV ratings.

FOX hosted Game 1 of the MLB championship series. It didn’t pull in as many viewers as football or the NBA finales have gained in recent weeks, with 3.30 million people and a 0.9 demo rating.

The demo rating wasn’t bad. While it wasn’t at the top, it was join second with Big Brother. The total audience was third of the night.

Dancing with the Stars, Big Brother, and American Ninja Warrior

The three big networks opted to start with a reality show smackdown. Dancing With the Stars kicked things off for ABC, pulling in the highest demo and total audience of the night. The live TV ratings were up, too.

More from Ratings

Big Brother was behind DWTS, remaining steady in the demo from the previous Monday episode. The total audience was up by a respectable 14%, putting the show in second throughout the night.

American Ninja Warrior was a chance for NBC to compete. While the ratings weren’t as good as the other two networks, the ticks up were impressive. American Ninja Warrior was up by almost 40% in the total audience and up by 70% in the demo.

The rest of the night in the live TV ratings

After Big Brother, CBS brought two new episodes of One Day at a Time. This is pandemic programming, filling in the gaps before the scripted shows return.

While the show only pulled in 1.62 million people for the debut, we have to remember that this is the fourth season of the series. CBS can’t air the first three seasons on linear programming yet due to stipulations in the previous Netflix contract. Those who haven’t seen the show aren’t going to tune in for the first time with the fourth season!

Manhunt: Deadly Games follows in the final slot of the night, remaining steady across the board.

Meanwhile, NBC saw a 25% uptick in the demo but a 5% downward tick in the total audience. There’s nothing to worry about here. Emergency Call is the show to keep an eye on. While it was steady in the audience, it was down 20% in the demo, and the ratings aren’t holding on from the DWTS lead-in.

As for The CW, Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Penn & Teller: Fool Us continue to be staples for the network. The former was up 22% in the audience and steady in the demo, while the latter was up 100% in the demo and 11% in the total audience. These shows have already been renewed, and they’re not going anywhere after next year, either.
