If you tuned into the Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 7, or were hanging out on X/Twitter at the time, then you've seen the new Fire Country season 2 teaser that CBS released. The excitement is peak right now in the fandom because it wasn't just another promo with cast footage getting us fired up for the premiere on Friday, Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. ET. This teaser was comprised of clips from the upcoming season!

Of course, this means it's time to speculate on what's set to happen in season 2's debut, "Something's Coming." Here's the synopsis:

"Bode is back in prison where he receives some shocking news. Meanwhile, the station 42 crew responds to a massive earthquake that rocks Edgewater to its core."

There's not a lot to go on there, but I've already tried to follow the breadcrumbs to figure out what the shocking news is that Bode receives. Now, it's time to dive into what the footage has to tell us. There are at least three takeaways from the teaser.

Something's Coming
“Something’s Coming” – Bode is back in prison where he receives some shocking news. Meanwhile, the station 42 crew responds to a massive earthquake that rocks Edgewater to its core, on the second season premiere of FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, Feb. 16 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. 1. Bode's having a rough go of it in prison

We all pretty much figured Bode's prison time would be rough. He'd already shared in the first season that he'd struggled with staying clean and that he'd fallen in with Sleeper which wasn't the best decision. Bode had gotten himself together and, when he was given the opportunity to be an inmate firefighter, he kept striving to be a better man than he had been before. But now, with his hope taken due to a shady push for him to take responsibility for a crime he didn't commit, there's very little for him to cling to in order to keep him going.

Vince has seen it. Bode's saying things like, "I'm where I belong now," and his father has noted that he's changed. If the teaser isn't trying to pull a fast one on us, it looks like Vince is going to be advocating for something to be done to help Bode otherwise they will lose him. Presumably, he's talking to Sharon and perhaps Bode's Cal Fire family in the clip. With the teaser splicing through depictions of Bode getting beat up in prison, Vince would be right!

I Know It Feels Impossible
FIRE COUNTRY (9:00-10:00 PM) “I Know It Feels Impossible” – The station 42 and third rock crews face a daring rescue when a massive mudslide tears through Edgewater. Meanwhile, Bode’s (Max Theriot) freedom is on the line at his parole hearing. First season finale airing May 19. Pictured (L-R): Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan and Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela Perez. 2. Gabriela and Bode are on the outs romantically...or are they?

In the season 1 finale, after he was denied parole, Bode wouldn't hear of Gabriela sticking it out with him. She didn't agree, but the teaser seems to suggest she may have moved on.

Rafael de la Fuente (Dynasty) has been tapped to play Diego, a paramedic/firefighter who is training Gabi for her paramedic certification. The two are said to have an "easy camaraderie" and that can be seen in the teaser while they're working together to stabilize a person in their care. The quick shot, paired with a later moment of Diego going in for a kiss with a woman that could be Gabi, has my eyebrow raising. It's a quick splice though and usually those are meant to be misleading.

De la Fuente will appear in three episodes early on in season 2, but he could stay on for more. His character is a charmer and a vet who served in Afghanistan. I'm intrigued by his dynamic with Gabi and how he'll fit in with the rest of the Cal Fire team, but I'm not yet convinced that the writers have put Gabriela in another romance.

Giving her another suitor, one that'll likely just end up as a road block on her way back to Bode isn't the move. And that's not the change for her character I'm hoping to see after showrunner Tia Napolitano's tease that we'd be surprised by everyone's stories when we catch up with them.

The ending shot of the promo, however, has Bode on a contraband phone saying, "I don't have much time," so fingers crossed that we're picking his phone calls back up with Gabi and he's talking to her.

3. We're in for an action packed season 2 premiere

I had no doubt that would be the case because Fire Country is the kind of soapy procedural that's always going to pair action and a thrilling disaster of the week with its drama. But still, it's nice to see our firefighters running around, a vehicle exploding for reasons unknown, and Eve looking concerned as she stares at what might be the something that's coming. I'm not so hot on Bode dealing with some nonsense in prison but it's certain to add to the storytelling surrounding his plot in the premiere.

The teaser has done nothing but made me want the trailer for season 2 even more. See y'all back here for a breakdown when it finally drops! Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more CBS news and coverage.
