Ryan Gosling is such a talent! He's already an icon in the industry known for so many great movies. Though he's really gained attention in the last year for his role as Ken in the Barbie movie. And he deserves it! Though Ken is a complicated character, he's hilarious and Gosling brought such a unique spin to him. But we've known how talented he is since the young age of 13 when he was on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

There's so many awards and shows given out to actors, and one of them of course is perhaps the most important one - an Oscar. The Academy Awards are known for their prestige, despite the snubs we get year after year. For the 96th Oscar Awards, Gosling is nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Ken in Barbie. So has Ryan Gosling ever taken home an Academy Award?

The answer is, no. Gosling has never won an Oscar. Which honestly feels unfair because he's so talented and has taken on a variety of roles that deserve the honor. Well, perhaps Oscars 2024 is his year! Though the actor is against some steep competition: Sterling K. Brown for American Fiction, Robert De Niro for Killers of the Flower Moon, Robert Downey Jr. for Oppenheimer, and Mark Ruffalo for Poor Things.

Oppenheimer has kind of been sweeping all the awards this season, so I wouldn't be surprised if Downey Jr. took home the win. Either way, I'm going to be cheering my guy Gosling on! He's a winner in my book at least. And while the actor hasn't ever won an Academy Award, he has been nominated a couple of times before.

Ryan Gosling Oscars nominations

In 2007, he was nominated in the Best Actor category for the movie Half Nelson. This was followed up 10 years later in 2017 in the same category for his role in La La Land. But as stated above, he's only been nominated in these categories and didn't win them. In 2007 he lost to Forest Whitaker for his role in The Last King of Scotland. At the 2017 ceremony, Casey Affleck took home the win instead for Manchester by the Sea.

Gosling played high school history teacher Dan Dunne in Half Nelson. The drama is centered around his character, who is a well-liked teacher by his students and colleagues, per the synopsis. But at night away from school he's actually going to bars and getting high, dealing with an addiction. When "female student Drey catches him" high, the two form an "unlikely friendship." Dan tries to be better as Drey has a brother who is in prison for dealing drugs. The movie is currently streaming on Peacock, as well as for free on Tubi, Sling TV, Vudu, and YouTube Movies & TV.

La La Land was, and still is, a popular movie! Gosling starred in it opposite Emma Stone. He played Sebastian "Seb" Wilde. In the musical romance, Seb is a struggling jazz pianist while Stone is an aspiring actress. The two are "drawn together by their common desire" to make it big in what they're passionate about, per the synopsis. As they start to fall in love and find success in Los Angeles, the couple is "faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair." And those very dreams may very well "rip them apart." The film is currently streaming on Hulu.

Gosling will definitely be in attendance at the Oscars 2024 not only for his nomination and the fact that Barbie is nominated for Best Picture, but also because he'll be performing the hit song "I'm Just Ken" from the movie live on stage! Billie Eilish who sings "What Was I Made For?" for the pink-filled film will also be performing her tune live.

Be sure to cheer Ryan Gosling on at the Oscars tonight, March 10, 2024, starting at 7 p.m. ET on ABC!
