Expect a break for the CBS prime-time Sunday lineup on April 7! Why are new episodes of CSI: Vegas, The Equalizer, and Tracker not airing, and what’s in their place? Find out here!

CBS, like all networks, had to make huge adjustments to their Sunday schedule this past year. Usually, Sunday is already affected in the fall due to CBS’ coverage of NFL games often leading to some shows airing a bit later than usual. That was a moot point in 2023 as the Hollywood strikes put off any original shows for a bit.

CBS finally unveiled their Sunday lineup with Tracker getting a big premiere following the Super Bowl. That led to the lineup of the show with The Equalizer and CSI: Vegas moving to Sundays as well.

Since then, it’s been a bit tricky for CBS to adjust to the lower episode counts for each series and other delays, such as CBS’ coverage of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Last week, CSI: Vegas was off, while Tracker and The Equalizer had new episodes. But for April 7, there are no new episodes for any of those shows as CBS has a very special presentation that will take up the entire night.

What’s coming on CBS for Sunday, April 7?

There won’t be any new episodes on April 7, as CBS will be airing the CMT Music Awards, following 60 Minutes. Kelsea Ballerini hosts the three-hour extravaganza, which features the biggest stars in country music celebrating their best artists.

The show will be packed with top performances by Jason Aldean, Trisha Yearwood, Keith Urban, Megan Moroney, Parker McCollum with Brittney Spencer, NEEDTOBREATHE + Jordan Davis, and more.

There will also be a special tribute to star Toby Keith, who passed away in February 2024. Also, expect stars of CBS shows like Young Sheldon, Fire Country and more to be among the list of presenters. With this dominating the night, there's no room for any new episodes of the regular dramas.

Tracker will return on April 14 before a special The 100th: Billy Joel At Madison Square Garden. It’s expected The Equalizer and CSI: Vegas will return on April 21. It’s going to be a big night for country music fans on CBS, which will delay the usual lineup, but all of the action will return soon after.

The 2024 CMT Music Awards airs Sunday, April 7, at 8 p.m. ET only on CBS.
