‘This Is Us’ star Sterling K. Brown took the stage with Kristin Chenoweth at the Television Critics Association Awards for a pitch perfect duet.

More from This Is Us

Because life never ceases to imitate art, Sterling K. Brown continues to be just as perfect as Randall Pearson, the relatively flawless specimen of a man he portrays on This Is Us. Just as Randall excels at anything he sets his mind to, there appears to be nothing that Sterling K. Brown can’t do. And when it comes to music, it’s in the blood for the Pearson clan.

During Saturday night’s award ceremony for the Television Critics Association, where This Is Us picked up Outstanding New Program, Sterling K. Brown joined Kristin Chenoweth on stage, but not to present or accept an award. No, Brown wowed the crowd of television critics and television stars with his singing chops. The pair sang “For Good,” a cut from the hit Broadway musical Chenoweth starred in, Wicked. Suddenly, we’re imagining Randall following through on his flirtation with pursuing music as a connection to William, considering Brown can deliver those vocals. More than anything, Kate and Rebecca Pearson would be proud. Mama Pearson herself, Mandy Moore, took to Instagram to show her love for her TV son.

Sneaking a video of Brown and Chenoweth belting out the tune on stage, Moore captioned the clip with this too-true question: “What can’t Sterling K. Brown do?!” We’d like to follow up Moore’s question with the next obvious inquiry: When can we buy this rendition on iTunes and stream it on Spotify? Randall Pearson singing show tunes would go straight to the top of the charts.
