Roseanne returns to ABC. What is in store for us? Let’s check in on Jackie Harris…

More from ABC

It’s not every day you get to see something you cherished growing up come back to you after it’s gone. Roseanne returning to network television is not only a blessing but to have the original cast is more than exciting.

Since the debut return is on March 27, I decided to timeline the original characters from where they first started to where it will continue to go. Bringing in those that we fondly remember, Roseanne, Dan, D.J., Becky, Darlene, and Jackie. I will also touch on those that drove the story forward: David, Mark, Crystal, and Beverly (Roseanne’s mom).

In one last tribute, I will bring in the minor characters that will also be coming back: Anne-Marie, Chucky, Nancy, and the second Becky, who will now be the surrogate to the original. Then the newcomers, Mary (DJ’s daughter), Mark (Darlene and David’s son), and Harris (Darlene and David’s daughter).

Next up, Jackie…

Marjorie “Jackie” Harris is the sister to Roseanne and sister-in-law to Dan. Her favorite role is of aunt to Becky, Darlene, DJ, and Jerry. She loves her nieces and nephews as her own and even persuades Roseanne to be the primary caregiver if ever needed. She likes to take them out and spoil them. Trips to the movies or theme park until they all reach a certain age.

There is no secret that Jackie is neurotic. Everything gets pushed to the edge of insanity whenever something is out of place. It doesn’t take her very long to go from a normal day to everything being out of control.

This neurosis goes into high gear whenever her mother comes around for a visit. Having fits because Jackie knows her mother will push her buttons on her love life or career. At one Thanksgiving, Jackie has a complete meltdown and begins to shout and cry.

As a trusting family member, she is Jackie is the opposite when it comes to her romantic life. Choosing men that fill a void instead for the right reason. Her boss Booker (George Clooney) at Wellman Plastics, physical abuser Fisher, and others that drift in and out. She eventually decides to settle down and marry Fred. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last more than a year. She does bear a son from the relationship.

Jackie went through jobs like she went through men. Working at Wellman Plastics, an actress at the local theater, a police officer (six-weeks of training), truck driver, then part owner of Lanford Lunchbox with Roseanne and her mother. Jackie formed the idea after eating a “loose meat” sandwich when riding in her truck.

In the final episode, we do discover that Jackie is a lesbian which is why she struggled to maintain a man in her life. In Season 10 (new) we find that both Roseanne and Dan are Trump supporters while Jackie is for Hillary Clinton. One photograph shows her in a shirt that says “Nasty Woman” while wearing the “Pussy Hat.”  The confrontation between the three is probably on the horizon. She is now a life coach living in Lanford.
