Out of all the characters on The Magicians, Kady is the one with the most potential but the one we know the least.

There are some excellent characters. Eliot and Margo are by far my favorite duo, with Julia my favorite lone female of the series. They each have their own personality quirks and traits, making them excellent main leads. One thing The Magicians does is prove that heroes don’t always have to be perfect.

In fact, in most Young Adult novels, you would never see such a bunch of misfits together. There’s always at least one who isn’t psychologically damaged in some way. But The Magicians doesn’t have that.

Yet, it’s still missing something. That is in a character who looked to get a decent storyline at the start of the season, only for it to disappear. Yes, I’m talking about Kady.

She’s a marvelous character with the most potential on the series. Yet, she’s the one we know the least. We know her as a daughter and as a girlfriend, but what about her as a (now) Hedge Witch? Every now and then we look into her background a little, but then she’s forgotten about in the next episode.

We’ve seen potential in her storyline with Harriet and her need to save Penny, but both of those stories have just seemed to disappear. Kady went on a downward spiral after Penny’s death and has seemingly forgotten about Harriet–although it is possible that she’s off searching for answers right now.

If someone asked me to describe all the characters, most of them I could do in detail. Kady? Well, I can tell you she knows sign language, she loves Penny, she had a trainwreck of a mother, and she can sing. Anything else and it’s a little blank. She wasn’t even mentioned in Timeloop 23. It was like she was never even around.

Now that The Magicians Season 4 is confirmed, there’s time to bring her into the story more. It’s time to give her a storyline that doesn’t have some sort of connection to Penny; a storyline that is all about her as a person.
