Scoobynatural may have been highly anticipated, but there were worries that the classic moments and hopes wouldn’t transfer on the screen. Hot off the back of the Nielsen social ratings, the Nielsen preliminary viewer ratings show the episode was a roaring success.

When the Supernatural showrunners announced a crossover with Scooby-Doo in May last fear, fans were super excited. Small details were slowly released, but the majority of the episode was kept under wraps. Even the promo for the episode didn’t give anything away.

On the night, the episode was definitely a success with the fans. #Scoobynatural started trending on Twitter worldwide, but would that translate into positives where it really counted? Hot off the back of Nielsen sharing Supernatural hit the top of the list on the Daily Top 5 for the night, Nielsen viewer ratings also show a preliminary success.

According to TV Series Finale, the preliminary ratings show a huge jump both in the key demo and in the total ratings. These ratings may adapt by next week, but we’re confident that the ratings won’t change too much. Most of the time, they only show a change in the demo, and often by 0.01-0.03 up or down.

As of March 31, the key demo was up by 34.62% from the last episode, sitting at 0.70. This is also the second highest for the key demo in the season, just behind the Supernatural Season 13 premiere, which was at 0.72. The total ratings sit at 22.24% higher than the previous episode at 2.034 million viewers. This is also the second highest of the season, with the premiere at 2.100 million viewers.

Overall, the season has held steady. There have been a couple of episodes that saw dips, but the majority have hovered around the 0.6 mark in the demo. This is of the 18-49-year-olds and considered most important for the advertisers. The total audience figures is now sitting at an average of 1.791 million views, up 6.9% from Supernatural Season 12.

These are strong enough figures to secure a Season 14 renewal. Now we just have to wait for The CW to finally make the announcement! The CW is likely just waiting to look at a few other shows, as the network likes to renew a handful of shows at the same time.
