Supernatural Season 13, Episode 20 marks the beginning of the end of the season. It’s time to go back to the Apocalypse World and bring a certain archangel back into the mix.

Including Supernatural Season 13, Episode 20, we have just four episodes left of the season. It’s the beginning of the end and that means a lot of focus on the overall story arc. While the Winchesters will help Gabriel (and get stuck in a motel room with a vibrating bed), Jack will make a dangerous decision in the Apocalypse World.

After the events from the last episode, the Winchesters are still at Square 1. They know they have an impending threat and it’s not clear if Rowena can really offer them any help. But that doesn’t mean they’re just going to sit around and not try. Could “Unfinished Business” be the episode they get ahead? Here are the top takeaways from the Supernatural Season 13, Episode 20 promo & synopsis to find out.

#1. Jack gets a confidence boost

More from Supernatural

We haven’t seen Jack and Mary for a while, but that is changing with this episode. “Unfinished Business” takes us back to the Apocalypse World, where Jack gets a confidence boost. He’s going after Michael. After all, he’ll eventually bring the fight to the group, so why shouldn’t the group take the fight to him with a nephilim on their side?

Mary doesn’t seem certain about this idea. Jack is still young and Apocalypse Michael is the strongest being around. Nobody has gone up against him and survived. Is Jack’s confidence warranted or will he lead everyone on a suicide mission?

#2. Gabriel is back

Castiel told Naomi last night that he had no idea where Gabriel was. Well, it looks like things will change, because Gabriel is going to show up. Understandably, he wants revenge against the demigods that sold him to Asmodeus. However, he’s not going to go up against them alone. He wants the Winchesters’ help.

This could be the perfect time for a deal. Sure, Gabriel isn’t the King of the Crossroads or anything, but he owes everyone around him. It’s time to become a Lannister and repay those debts. Sorry…wrong show!

#3. Motels are back

How long has it been since we’ve seen motels in Supernatural lately? After years of going from one motel to another, things have mightly changed with the bunker. That’s not necessarily a bad thing (surely it’s cheaper on the set department in the long term) but there is something about motel life that’s missing.

The best thing is it’s the massage bed that’s making a return. Dean will definitely love Supernatural Season 13, Episode 20 just for that alone.

#4. No information on Lucifer

The promo and synopsis don’t seem to give us any indication of where Lucifer is. Honestly, the last episode did feel off; like it was completely out of sequence with the episode before. Lucifer was in Heaven and now all of a sudden Naomi needs Gabriel to power up Heaven, because she needs an archangel. Lucifer’s an archangel. Where is he?

It will be a shame if this episode doesn’t give us a clue about Lucifer’s whereabouts. It feels like the writing team hasn’t really been talking to each other…

#5. Sam and Dean are locked in a motel room

For some reason, the Winchesters are locked in a motel room. Well, that’s what it sounds like. It could be that they need to be in the motel room for safety. The reason behind that isn’t clear, but maybe it has something to do with these demigods. It does look like they’ll eventually get out of the motel room, but they’ll have to agree to Gabriel’s terms first.

My guess is Gabriel is locking them in a motel room to get his own way. He’ll drive them crazy enough to accept the terms of their release. But that’s just based on what I’ve seen in the promo and synopsis so far.

"Gabriel (guest star Richard Speight, Jr.) is back and drags Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) into his plot for revenge on the demigods who sold him to Asmodeus. Meanwhile, Jack’s (Alexander Calvert) inflating confidence leads to reckless decisions that could put others in harm’s way."
