This Is Us star Justin Hartley’s odds of securing an Emmy nomination are said to have recently risen with a little help from the Westworld cast.

As anyone who watched the second season of This Is Us will tell you, Season 2 was filled with another string of Emmy-worthy performances but none shone brighter than that of Justin Hartley’s emotional and moving performance. Season 2 watched Hartley’s character Kevin Pearson hit rock bottom as he struggled with alcoholism and the demons from his past.

Through Kevin’s Season 2 arc, Hartley was given the platform to shine and his performance throughout Season 2 helped to deliver some of his character’s greatest moments yet as Hartley knocked it out of the park episode after episode.

More from This Is Us

Hartley’s moving and awe-inspiring performance in Season 2 alone should be enough to help the criminally overlooked member of the This Is Us ensemble secure a nomination in this year’s Best Supporting Actor race; however, his odds of securing a nomination have recently improved thanks to the Westworld cast.

Prediction site Gold Derby is reporting that Hartley’s odds of securing a Best Supporting Actor nom at this year’s Emmy have increased significantly thanks to Westworld stars Jeffery Wright and Ed Harris’ decision to complete in the Lead Actor race.

The move for Harris and Wright to compete for a Lead Actor nom is one which indeed could be incredibly beneficial to Hartley as it eliminates two additional front-runners out of the race thus freeing up space for nominees such as Hartley who might otherwise be wrongfully overlooked by Emmy voters.
