Supernatural fails to make it in the Nielsen Social Top 5

After a week of no results from the Nielsen Social Top 5, Supernatural failed to make it into the Top 5 this week. However, that may not be because of lack of tweeting, as Instagram data isn’t collecting.

Supernatural has had a good run of being in the Nielsen Social Top 5. While the ratings have been up and down, the last few weeks saw the show’s fans make sure it hit the Top 5 when it came to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram mentions. Last week the results for Thursday night weren’t released, but this week the run has come to an end.

However, it’s not likely that it’s lack of using the hashtag #Supernatural. After all, there was plenty of chatter on social media during the Supernatural Season 13 penultimate episode. This lack of ranking may be because Instagram data isn’t currently being collected.

Instagram hasn’t been included in the rankings for a few days now. This may be why there was no ranking last Friday morning; Nielsen may have been working out the Instagram problem.

As we’ve seen in recent weeks, it’s the Instagram users that get the show in the Top 5 continuously. Sometimes, Instagram users alone get the show ranking in the top spots, with Facebook and Twitter just adding in a bonus.

This Thursday was also the highly anticipated wedding episode of The Big Bang Theory, while Grey’s Anatomy saw a major character’s life at stake. Those two situations combined easily pushed them to the top of the rankings.

I don’t think this week is anything to be disappointed about. There are a lot of factors at play for that Nielsen Social Top 5 ranking. It’s the Supernatural Season 13 finale next week, so that’s the one we want to focus on right now.
