It’s time to bring back Fox’s 24

So many shows have been canceled in recent days. And though many are focused on their demise, I’d like to bring attention to a show that I would personally love to see make a comeback, Fox’s 24.

It is probably unlikely that Kiefer Sutherland would come back to have a part in the show, but no one would complain if he were involved somehow in light of his recently freed schedule in wake of the cancellation of Designated Survivor.

And let’s be honest, Designated Survivor was trying to incorporate 24-style elements into the show while staying a political drama. So would it be far-fetched to ask for a real 24 return?

Yes, I’m aware the latest installment of the franchise, 24 Legacy, was canceled due to low ratings. But my theory is that perhaps people just weren’t ready for Kiefer Sutherland to have such a small part in the show after growing accustomed to seeing him as the lead in the past.

The blame certainly can’t be cast on Corey Hawkins, who did an amazing job. It’s just that it takes some time for a fan-base to adjust to a new lead. It’s likely as simple as that.

Maybe they should bring Kiefer Sutherland back to share the spotlight with Corey Hawkins? They could create a scenario in which Hawkins’ character, Eric Carter, trains alongside Sutherland’s character, Jack Bauer, for a time before Bauer’s fate is decided (based on Sutherland’s desire to do it/his schedule).

My point is, let’s figure this out. If Marvel had killed Iron Man in Avengers: Infinity War, no one would have been ready to see someone replace him, and that’s likely what happened when Fox and Sutherland himself, who was a producer for 24 Legacy, tried to replace Bauer as the lead of the show so suddenly.

I refuse to believe that the 24 clock has counted off for the last time. It’s time to bring back 24. Fox, ABC, Netflix, Hulu, anyone… are you listening? Pretty please?
