The SDCC 2018 Supernatural panel will take place on Sunday. Here are five things we hope to see.

San Deigo Comic Con 2018 takes place this week. It’s the event of the year when various shows’ cast and showrunners get onstage to share some snippets of things to come. Supernatural‘s SDCC 2018 panel will take place on Sunday.

In past years, we’ve had trailers, gag reels, bands, and much more. It’s certainly going to be hard to top last year’s intro with Kansas, so I’m not even going to suggest how they can do it. I really don’t know. I’m going to keep this focused on the actual panel itself. Here are five things I’d love to see at the Supernatural Q&A panel.

5. The Supernatural Season 13 gag reel

The gag reel really is the highlight of any DVD boxset. It’s the reason so many people still buy the DVDs, despite being able to stream online and buy digital versions. We want to see the actors mess up and get a snippet of life behind the scenes. Of course, this is also the chance to see more ad-libbing, although nothing will be as epic as the “Eye of the Tiger” in Season 4.

There’s hope that we’ll get the Supernatural Season 13 gag reel at the start of the event; a first-look before the DVD is released.

We know a video presentation is happening. Previous years have had a mixture of presentations, with gag reels, clips of the premiere, and a “Road So Far” clip.

4. No mention of the final season

If The CW was going to bring the show to an end, I hope that would have been mentioned already. iZombieCrazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Jane the Virgin have all been confirmed as their final seasons this year. I would hope Supernatural would get the same treatment. However, there’s always that thought at the back of my mind that the showrunners will make the announcement.

One thing I want is no mention at all that this is the final season. I don’t want it to be the final season at all. The great news about Supernatural Season 14 is Jim Michaels has shared that there’s no news with them. While he could be hiding something, he’s always been quite honest about the current plans for ending (or not ending) the season. He kept us up to date last season about the latest news on whether The CW had renewed the series, so I would hope he’s being honest this time.

3. An explanation for the shorter season order

One of the reasons many fans worry that Supernatural Season 14 is the end is the shorter season order. It’s only three episodes shorter than normal but is a concern for fans around the world. Honestly, I just think it’s so the actors can spend more time with their families, but it would be nice to get confirmation of that at SDCC 2018.

There’s hope that it will come up in the discussions. If (I’m assuming Richard Speight Jr. and Rob Benedict are hosting) our hosts don’t ask the question, there’s hope fans will instead at the very end.

2. Minor spoilers for Supernatural Season 14

I don’t mind spoilers that much, but I know a lot of people do. It’s hard to tease without giving away something big. One thing that left me disappointed about the finale last season was knowing Jensen Ackles would get to play someone else. It was blindingly obvious who that would be. There wasn’t a teaser but a major spoiler.

I hope nothing like that happens at the panel. But I do want to see some minor spoilers. A little discussion about how the characters are dealing with the current situation. How is Jack handling everything he realized about Lucifer? How is Sam dealing knowing Michael has taken over Dean? What are the Apocalypse World people doing now? Just a little tease for the first episode.

1. Talk of Wayward Sisters

It was disappointing to find out that The CW had passed on Wayward Sisters, but that doesn’t mean the idea of this spin-off has to be over. Here’s hoping that the topic will come up in the Q&A. It would be good to hear if Andrew Dabb is working on revamping it slightly to make it more in tune for what the network wants.

If not revamping, just a discussion of how that cliffhanger will be resolved. Will we get to see the storyline wrap in Supernatural Season 14? Are there plans to bring back the characters? There is so much potential with that storyline, so bringing it into Supernatural may be the only option.
