Brad Buckner interview: Characters who will return and monster-of-the-week episodes in Supernatural Season 14

Supernatural Season 14 is condensed, but what does that mean for monster-of-the-week episodes? Also with the hints of who will return, who will definitely be integral parts of the story? Brad Buckner shares hints in this SDCC roundtable interview.

It’s time for the final roundtable interview from SDCC. Executive producer and writer Brad Buckner shares what’s to come in Supernatural Season 14. With the condensed season, many fans question what it means for monster-of-the-week episodes and he certainly shares hints of that, along with who will come back with an integral storyline.

Let’s first start with the monster-of-the-week storyline. It sounds like these are no longer going to be the standalone episodes they always have. Supernatural Season 13 started to bring this in, focusing on a little bit of the overall storyline within the monster-of-the-week storyline. This is going to continue.

Brad shared that there’s a chance some of the monster-of-the-week focuses will mirror what’s going on in the current main storyline. And yes, the monster-of-the-week will come in early in the season. Does this mean we’re not getting much of Michael!Dean?

That isn’t something that Eugenie Ross-Leming has hinted at or that we’ve heard before. It could be that we’ll see a monster-of-the-week case with Sam, Cass, and Jack working together. Maybe we’ll see Bobby and Mary on a case. What about the idea of Rowena and Charlie on a road trip and running into Michael!Dean along the way?

As well as the monster-of-the-week, Brad discussed characters returning, including why Charlie was brought back and what Rowena’s role will be. You’ll definitely want to hear about Charlie’s return in the video below. However, when it comes to Rowena, she’ll play an integral role in a particular upcoming storyline. Now if only Brad could share more.

Other returning characters are going to be Jody and Claire, and many some other Wayward Sisters characters. Jody and Claire will come back early on and will likely play a part in getting Dean back. But what about the major plot point left in the hope of getting the spin-off off the ground?
