Love and wigs are making Mandy Moore happy on This Is Us Season 3

While This Is Us Season 2 focuses on Jack’s death, and the grief surrounding his untimely demise, Season 3 will adopt a lighter tone as the series chronicles Jack and Rebecca’s courtship.

At the premiere of her latest film, The Darkest Mind, Moore spoke about what’s in store for Rebecca on the upcoming season of This Is Us, “It’s fun because I get to live in a slightly happier time.” Moore went on to say, “It’s exploring young love, and I get to wear all the fun ’70s hair and makeup and stuff like that, so that’s always a plus in my book.”

Viewers witnessed Rebecca and Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) serendipitous first encounter as well as watching the twosome tie the knot. The months in between mark a huge gap in the couple’s love affair — one fans should love to see filled.

At the TCA summer panel, showrunner Elizabeth Berger said, “We’ll be spending some more time in that sort of very romantic period where [Jack and Rebecca] first met each other, which we’re really excited about.  It’s sort of a lighter, more fun period.”

As fans will recall, when Jack first meets Rebecca he’s going through a dark time in his life. On “Moonshadow” (Season 1 Episode), Jack tells his wife, “You’re not just my great love story, Rebecca. You … You were my big break.”

A photo taken on the set during the filming of Season 3 hints that one of the couple’s first dates will take place at a carnival.

The pic was snapped by Roxy Olin who works behind-the-scenes on the series and is the daughter of director Ken Olin.

Jack is undeniably the great love of Rebecca’s life, but the show will also explore how Rebecca and Miguel (John Huertas) get together. Jack’s best friend hasn’t exactly been welcomed into the family fold, particularly by Kevin (Justin Hartley).
