Supernatural Season 3 had fewer episodes than all the rest, however, that doesn’t mean it didn’t have quality episodes. Here are five to make sure you include in any rewatch.

Supernatural Season 3 was a victim of a writer’s strike. That season had fewer episodes than previous, and future, seasons. However, the smaller episode count made it so that there were more quality episodes.

f you’re going to do a rewatch, we’ve already told you which ones to skip. Now, how about we talk about some episodes that should definitely be on your list if you have a limited time to do a rewatch.  It goes without saying, but there will be some spoilers ahead.

The Kids Are Alright

This is a must watch because it introduces characters who will become important in later seasons. In this episode, we meet Lisa and Ben. Lisa is an old flame of Dean’s who has left a lasting impression.

In this episode, he revisits her and thinks her kid is his. In the end, Dean walks away, but not for good. Lisa and Ben make a reappearance in seasons 5 and 6. If you skip this episode but include episodes later with Lisa and Ben, you may be confused. Plus, this episode includes creepy kids, which makes it a great “scary” episode as well. Especially if you’re a mom.

A Very Supernatural Christmas

This is a great flashback episode. Not only do we get to see more of the dynamic of Sam and Dean as children, we also get the origin story to the necklace Dean has always worn. It’s a Christmas episode in a most untraditional sense, but it’s also full of heart.

You really do start to get a real insight into the relationship between the brothers and how absent their father really was as they were growing up. In a season where we’re counting down to seeing Dean get dragged to Hell, this is a very powerful brother-centric episode.

Mystery Spot

This is, personally, my favorite episode of not just the season, but the series as a whole. Sam is trapped in a Groundhog Day-type situation in which he has to continuously watch his brother die in sometimes ridiculous ways.

The episode is hilarious, it has tons of quotable lines, plus it’s the second time we see Gabriel. So definitely include this one on your rewatch.

Ghostfacers

Another hilarious, comedy-filled episode. This one is very Winchester lite, with them only making short appearances as the Ghostfacers try to record a haunting while the brothers are simultaneously trying to end it.

This is a great introduction episode to the Ghostfacers, who do make several reappearances on the show in later seasons. In a season that is full of heavy, emotional episodes, with the storyline of Dean’s soul on the line, this is a nice change of pace.

No Rest for the Wicked

The season finale, and the one that wraps up the Dean’s going to Hell story arc. Up until the last minute, the show keeps you on your seat and Dean and Sam run around in Dean’s final hours.

Not only does the episode give the emotional punch of watching Dean get dragged to Hell by hellhounds, but it drops in some plot points to push forward into the next season. Most notably Ruby dropping hints that Sam has some powers to defeat Lilith, and Sam being immune to Lilith’s powers. If you only watch one episode from this season, make sure it is this one. Or else nothing will make sense moving into Season 4.
