Supernatural Season 14 seeing episodes without Dean Winchester? [Spoilers]
Supernatural Season 14 will see something that has never been done before. One of the Winchesters won’t be in some of the episodes.
There are two pillars to Supernatural. While other characters have grown in importance, there are only two characters that have been in every single episode: Sam and Dean Winchester. Supernatural Season 14 is going to see something that’s never happened before.
For a few episodes, there’s going to be one of those characters missing. There’s going to be no Dean Winchester at all.
Over the years, we’ve seen the Winchesters take on other forms, but they’ve always been a version of themselves. Sam has been soulless, but he was still Sam. Even when he was Samifer, he took back control of his body temporarily to open the cage.

When Dean was Deanmon, he was still a version of himself. We’ve never seen Jensen Ackles as another character until now. And this is where this interesting twist comes into play.
Supernatural Season 14 will still see Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in every single episode. That isn’t going to change; one of them isn’t becoming the bigger star. However, Jensen won’t be Dean Winchester. He’ll be Michael with Dean tucked away somewhere in a corner of the mind.
According to an interview with TVLine, showrunner Andrew Dabb says that this has been difficult. Dean has become a fundamental part of the show, so not writing the character has been tricky. However, the positive takeaway is the ability and time to develop other characters.
SPN Hunters has already reported that there will be a higher percentage of Castiel. There will also be more time for Jack and to develop Bobby and Mary’s relationship. We’ll hopefully get to see more of Rowena, Charlie, and many other characters who have been in the series.
This is certainly going to be odd, but it’s not forever. Michael!Dean will be around for longer than audiences expect, but it’s still not going to be a whole season without Dean Winchester. We’ll have to wait to find out just how many episodes without Dean we’re getting.
