In Supernatural’s fifth episode this season Sam and Dean met a Djinn who told them Michael was setting traps for hunters. Is Dean one of those traps?

In the second episode of Supernatural Season 14, it seemed that Michael had abandoned his vessel and returned Dean to Sam. It all seemed too easy, but as Cas looked into his head and we’ve moved through a few more episodes, it seems that it really was that easy. Michael seems to be moving his super-powered monster chess pieces around and Dean is still Dean.

However, in the fifth episode, we came into contact with a Djinn. He told Dean that Michael was setting traps all over the country with his super-powered monsters for hunters. Then the Djinn tried to tap into Dean’s mind, but something weird happened, something painful, and the Djinn was unable to get inside.

With Dean having made an unexpected reappearance in that second episode, it’s been pretty suspect that Michael would just let Dean go. Why would Michael just give up his vessel willingly? It really doesn’t make any sense.

However, with the Djinn revealing the plan to set traps for hunters, things may be getting a little more clear. What if Michael didn’t really leave Dean? What if he is just hidden inside, waiting for the right moment to strike? Like an angel Trojan Horse?

It would make sense. Stowing away inside Dean would get Michael close to a large number of hunters, including Sam. While Dean says when Michael was possessing him, he wasn’t really aware of what was going on outside, that doesn’t mean Michael isn’t. Michael could be learning the intricacies of the operation in the bunker.

All we know is Michael isn’t done with his plan, and he’s MIA. If he isn’t in Dean, then where is he? It doesn’t make sense for him to be anywhere else other than biding his time before he comes out and creates a huge problem for the hunters in the bunker.
