Before killing the djinn in Supernatural Season 14, Episode 5, Dean’s nightmares were revealed. The djinn was clearly shocked, but what exactly did he see?

This is going to be a question for a few more episodes, I think. The djinn saw something in Dean’s head in Supernatural Season 14, Episode 5 and we don’t know what it is yet. After seeing whatever it was, the djinn certainly looked shocked, which means it can’t be good for the Winchesters, us, the world, and possibly Michael.

But what exactly did the djinn see? It’s a small plot point really in the grand scheme of things. Right now, we have Jack who seems to be close to death and Nick on a mission to figure out what happened to his family. Michael is somewhere out there setting hunter traps and Dean doesn’t seem all that concerned.

Is that because Dean isn’t really Dean? Let’s be honest, we all wonder why Michael has given up his sword, but there are plenty of reasons for that. Michael is a smart angel and he’ll always have a plan in motion. And we know that Dean is definitely Dean right now. Andrew Dabb has confirmed that Michael isn’t hidden in there somewhere.

So, we’re back to what the djinn saw. If he didn’t see that Michael was in there, what did he see that shocked and worried him?

My theory is that he saw something about Michael. He was looking for nightmares and one of those could be that Michael doesn’t keep his deals. Dean has the nightmare that Michael didn’t hold up to his end of the deal after killing Lucifer. The djinn would fear that means Michael will never live up to promises and will never return.

There’s very little that Dean is scared of. The things that go bump in the night have become old friends to him over the years. The only thing he could have nightmares about is what Michael did while he was in his vessel, which means the djinn could have seen something from the Apocalypse World, which shows what could become of monsters.

Like I said, I don’t expect this plot point to be revisited for some time. The next episode will be focused on Jack and the episode after that teases the return of the Heaven problem. The episode after that may bring Michael back into focus again.

Next. Jensen Ackles perfectly embodied Michael. dark
