Supernatural Season 14, Episode 9 now has a synopsis. Titled “The Spear,” expect this episode to be the fall finale. Old allies are returning and there’s a potential battle with an archangel. Here’s everything we can tell from the synopsis.

For now, it’s time to delve into the episode. To start, I’ll share the synopsis from The CW.

"THE BEST LAID PLANS – Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) enlist the help of their pal Garth (guest star DJ Qualls) to gain inside information on what Michael may be planning. The brothers split up to each go after weapons that can aid in their fight against the Archangel, but this may be a fight our heroes cannot win."

Written by Robert Berens, this is sure to be an excellent episode. He’s the one that has managed to bring an end to a number of storylines beautifully and also set up the spin-off Wayward Sisters, delivering some closure in Season 14, Episode 3. Amyn Kaderali has directed the episode.

Something I theorized would happen is happening in this episode. DJ Quall is back on the series as Garth, as Sam and Dean need his help to figure out what’s going on with the archangel. It makes sense, to be honest. Garth is a werewolf and he’ll be able to play double agent.

Meanwhile, the Winchesters need some weapons to fight against an archangel. This isn’t going to be easy since all we know right now is that an archangel blade wielded by an archangel can kill another archangel. That was set up so that one archangel would always stand. Could one of the weapons be Gabriel in the Empty?

Considering this is likely the fall finale (no confirmation yet but the air date certainly seems to suggest it), expect there to be a major cliffhanger at the end of this episode. Will Michael take over Dean again? Could we see Garth get manipulated by the archangel? Will someone die? We can only wait to find out.

The title is also interesting. “The Spear” suggests that we’ll see a certain Dark!Wayward SIster and her archangel-injuring spear.
