Supernatural Season 14 fall finale recap: Can the Winchesters, Jack, and Cass stop Michael?
Jack is back and the Winchesters have Michael’s location. It’s a Christmas miracle in the Supernatural Season 14 fall finale. Well, that’s what they’re hoping for.
It’s Christmas time in Supernatural, but will there be a miracle? C’mon, you’ve seen this show long enough to know that’s not going to be the case, right? The question has always been what’s going to go wrong as the Winchesters, Castiel, and Jack head out on the search for Michael.
Yes, Jack is back and the Winchesters have Michael’s location thanks to Castiel getting rid of the Cosmic Entity from Heaven. Is it possible to finally take out the archangel?

Which side is Garth really on?
After clearing out a floor of a building of the pesky humans, Michael puts his plan in motion. There are just two straggler werewolves, one of those being Garth. Of course, Michael already knows who Garth is. It’s okay, Garth has a way to save himself. Because of his family (he has a daughter, y’all!), he needs to choose the winning side in the coming war and that means siding with Michael.
Is this all a ruse? Surely that’s something Michael is questioning.
Garth calls Sam to make it clear that it’s a ruse. Michael needs Garth to make the change and Sam isn’t happy with that. They have no idea what it could do to Garth and he can’t possibly fake this. Besides, it’s not like this have to worry about taking the mixture — only one out of seven have exploded!
With Garth now Leveled Up, it’s time to start the battle to win the war. And yes, Michael is connected to each and every one of his monsters. That’s got to be a tease of something to come later.

It’s all hands on deck
In case you missed Ketch, there’s a glimpse of him in this episode. He’s Skyping with the group to share that he got the egg (you remember the one needed to get Lucifer out of the president?) but then he dropped it. The good news is that it’s in the mail — and Ketch paid extra for Priority Service — but it’s not going to get to Lebanon, Kansas in time.
Garth manages to get the information to the Winchesters, mentioning the spear and leveling out the whole of Kansas City. With the spear, Bobby working on the angel cuffs to hold Michael, and the egg, this could be the chance to put Michael back in the cage for good or even worse. It sounds like a win — but also sounds like it’s too good to be true!
This does bring us to the sneak peek of the week. Castiel and Dean head to the dump for the spear, while Sam and Jack head to pick up the package Ketch sent (with Jack picking the lock and everything!). Dark!Kaia has been at the dump but she’s no longer there. To make matters worse, Michael’s monsters aren’t there.
The monsters are, however, at the courier. After knocking Sam to the floor, the monsters take Jack and get the egg. Believing he’ll be killed anyway, Sam goes in to attack but Michael easily flings him away and melts the egg. Unsurprisingly (seriously, this is getting ridiculous), Sam is knocked unconscious.
Back at the dump, Dark!Kaia shows up with the spear, ready to fight. With a prediction of everything that will happen should Michael be allowed to live, Dark!Kaia considers giving up her spear. But she wants to get back through the rift to the Bad Place. While she ran from monsters, at least she understood that world.
Dean promises that Jack will open the rift to get through to her home. Knowing Jack can’t, Castiel manages to get Dark!Kaia to admit that she has people she will do anything to protect. She wants the spear back once Dean has finished with it.
Getting to Michael
It’s clear that someone set up a trap. This was likely a way to test Garth, who failed spectacularly. With Jack now as a prisoner, Michael shares the full plan. Instead of leveling Kansas City as he did in his world, he’s choosing to turn all humans into creatures.
Why is he bringing Jack into this? Michael wants Jack with him, knowing that since Jack will live forever all the memories will fade.
Meanwhile, Sam is in the parking garage and manages to take out one of Michael’s monsters. Further up the Hitomi Plaza (very similar to Die Hard‘s Nakatomi Plaza, by the way), he takes out another and then gets to Jack and runs into Garth, who doesn’t seem to be any different. That is until they get to the parking garage and Garth starts to change.
Michael is in Garth’s head and is forcing Garth to change. Remember Michael saying he is connected to the monsters and knows where they are? That connection works both ways and Michael can force Garth to change and attack Sam.
Rather than kill Garth, Sam manages to put him in a sleeper hold and then tie him up. He also manages to get a call out to other hunters to share where Michael is and what’s going on, just in case they don’t manage to win. It’s clear they are walking in an impossible trap but the four of them will do it anyway with “Ode to Joy” playing.
Time for the cliffhanger
Knowing Michael will sense Castiel, he goes in first. It’s not hard for Michael to take him down, but then Sam and Jack come in. Again, they’re taken down easily.
Next, it comes to Dean, who steps in with the spear. Just as it looks like Michael will win, Jack passes the spear back to Dean. Finally, Dean gets a chance to take Michael down.
And then it’s the moment we all expected. Michael left the door open to repossess Dean. This time, he’s managed to bury Dean deep within his mind to stop Dean from squirming and fighting back. Now Michael!Dean has an army of monsters ready for a Thanos-like finger snap. Rather than seeing half of the world disappear (sorry, wrong universe), the snap of the fingers turn the screen black.
That’s it. The cliffhanger you’ve all been waiting for. Michael!Dean is back and Sam, Jack, and Cass could just watch. Who else called it with me?
