What does the PGA nominations mean for Fuller House ending?
By Sefket Nouri
If you think that Netflix will cancel Fuller House after hearing rumors about it, think again. The show received a 2019 Producers Guild Awards a nomination.
I think it’s safe to say that Fuller House isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. TVLine sent the fans of Fuller House into a frenzy when rumors arose from the publication that the show would end. However, both Juan Pablo Di Pace and Candace Cameron Bure dismissed the rumors calling it nonsense.
Both of their responses seem to make it concrete. I mention that because not only has the show garnered five wins and nine nominations since it debuted in 2016, but Fuller House just recently received a 2019 Producers Guild Awards nomination for “Outstanding Children’s Program”. Congratulations to the cast and crew! What a way for them to celebrate the new year!
That is a pretty darn big deal, and it says A LOT about the show. Children are digging the show, and Netflix needs more shows like this. The streaming giant doesn’t have many family comedy shows out there, so that’s another reason to renew it.
More from Netflix
- Bridgerton season 3: All the details to know about Penelope and Colin’s love story
- It’s a slow week on Netflix with only three new releases (Nov. 20)
- Exploding Kittens: From card game to Netflix animated series starring Tom Ellis
- The Crown and more Netflix shows and movies to stream this week (November 13)
- Escaping Twin Flames and more harrowing love-centered documentaries to watch on Netflix
The last big award that Fuller House won was a Primetime Emmy award in 2018 for once again “Outstanding Children’s Program”. So that means two consecutive years of children loving the show.
How much more proof do you need that the show is performing quite well? Any kind of show with poor quality wouldn’t be receiving these type of awards, or heck, any kind of award for that matter.
The last I know regarding the ratings was that 4.6 million viewers watched the premiere of Ful House season 3. Netflix also said that Fuller House is the second show that a lot of people binge on their network. That says a lot.
Unfortunately, I can’t find any information on the Season 4 ratings. Netflix is notorious for not giving out ratings, so the numbers aren’t easy to find. The wonderful news though is that Kimmy gave birth in the season finale. Stephanie is now a mother, she’s soon to be a wife, and D.J. and Steve are now dating.
There’s a lot of storylines that the writers could explore, and I am so looking forward to seeing Stephanie as a mother. I don’t see the show ending. I feel pretty calm and assured that it will be renewed for more seasons to come.
We’ll hear if Fuller House wins their award on Jan. 19 at the Beverly Hilton. Good luck to the cast and crew!
Fuller House Season 4 is now streaming on Netflix.
