How many episodes will Supernatural Season 15 have?

Supernatural Season 15 has been confirmed but there’s still a lot we don’t know. How many episodes will Supernatural Season 15 have?

We all cheered when we heard The CW had renewed Supernatural for Season 15. It is excellent news for us as fans and for the cast. Now that we have the renewal, we have a lot more questions. The main one right now is how many episodes Supernatural Season 15 will have.

Usually, we wouldn’t need to concern ourselves with this question. In the past, it’s been 22 or 23 episodes. The only time we saw a dip was during the writer’s strike and it’s not like the show could help that! Supernatural Season 3 had just 16 episodes but we could accept it.

That was until this season. We learned that the 14th season would have 20 episodes instead of the usual amount and not due to a writer’s strike. Instead, it was, understandably, because the stars wanted to spend more time with their families. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki had negotiated a deal that would allow them an extra month or so at home.

And good for them! We knew from that it was likely they would do the same.

Jensen Ackles had said that he would have liked to do fewer than the 20 episodes that they all settled on. Cutting out three was bad enough, though. But if it was successful, maybe the network and the studio would allow for a few less.

Is that what we’ll see this year? Will Supernatural Season 15 have fewer episodes?

I can’t answer that question right now. There’s no word on the length of the season but since the show was renewed in January, I would say we’ll probably get around 20 episodes again.

The Season 14 renewal didn’t happen until April 2, 2018. That later-than-usual renewal could have been linked to negotiating this shorter-season deal. Since the renewal is through early, it suggests there wasn’t as much negotiating needed.

Of course, I am just speculating here. There is a chance that everyone negotiated to around 18 episodes, which would give the actors another month off with their families. I’d be up for that. What about you?
