The DC Universe original series Doom Patrol is shaping up nicely with a vast range of amazing cast members included and it looks as though Mark Sheppard is being added to the list.

Mark Sheppard hasn’t appeared on a TV show since his exit from Supernatural in 2017. That hiatus from the small screen is about to end however and what better way to do it than appearing in the DC Universe original series, Doom Patrol?

Now, before we go any further and to make things clear, it is not confirmed that Mark Sheppard is about to appear in Doom Patrol. However, we know he’s going to be in something soon and we are expecting an announcement of his new character in a TV show any day now. We’re pretty certain here at SPN Hunters that it is Doom Patrol. Here’s why.

In 2018, Mark Sheppard shared via his official Instagram that he was making his way to Atlanta to work on a new project with some old friends. Fans theorized his return to Supernatural but he made it clear that wasn’t the case.

There are plenty of shows filmed in Georgia, such as The Walking Dead, but we suspect Doom Patrol.

Doom Patrol is reported to be filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. In terms of old friends, we know that Jeremy Carver, who was the showrunner for Supernatural between Seasons 8 and 11, is acting as an executive producer for Doom Patrol and also wrote the pilot episode for the DC Universe series.

Carver’s time on Supernatural is not limited to just Seasons 8 to 11. He began his work in the series in Season 3 as a writer and story editor, and later became a co-producer on Season 5, the same year as when Crowley, played by Mark Sheppard, was introduced. Carver was also credited to the end of Season 13 despite handing the reins to Andrew Dabb in Season 11.

More from Supernatural

So based on the Instagram post Mark Sheppard shared in 2018 about a new show in Atlanta with an old friend, Doom Patrol with Jeremy Carver acting as an EP certainly fits the bill.

Also, if you needed more evidence of old friends. Alan Tudyk has been cast as Mr. Nobody in Doom Patrol. Both he and Mark Sheppard appeared in the hit sci-fi series Firefly, so there is another connection for you to consider.

But that’s obviously not enough to say with conviction that it is indeed the DC Universe series. Next up in the evidence trail is the very recent Instragam photo Mark Sheppard shared below of himself as his new character in his new show.

Now, closely look at the surroundings. The table, with its arches and fine detail; the chess board on top of it; the red chairs with their straight arms; the lamp in the background sitting atop a triangular-shaped sideboard, with a white object next to it and the wall next to the lamp with the squared wooden panel design.

Now take a look at this still from Doom Patrol.

You can clearly see behind Robotman and Elasti-Woman the very same table, with the same arches and fine detail. The same chess board on top of it, and the same red chairs with the straight arms, and yes, the lamp in the background sitting atop a triangular-shaped sideboard, with that white object next to it. Even the wall next to the lamp with the squared wooden panel design is the same. The only difference is the angle and the lighting.

Now yes, the same sets can be used for other TV shows. It’s happened on more than occasion. But when you add all the other little pieces together it would be one hell of a coincidence if Mark Sheppard is not in Doom Patrol.

If it is so will it be a big or small role, that’s a question for another day. We know there are still some characters in the Doom Patrol comics that have yet to be introduced so he could be about to appear as one of them but it could also be a minor guest star role as well where he appears as the bad guy or something.

Sheppard said we’d find out in a few days, so we’re just (im)patiently waiting for the official Doom Patrol images for upcoming episodes.

Update Mar. 1: This has now been confirmed. Our speculations were right. Mark Sheppard is in Doom Patrol.
