Unscripted shows saw a slump in the Tuesday TV ratings, while some of the smaller scripted shows got boosts. Is it too little, too late? Here’s a look at the Mar. 5 ratings.

The Rookie and Roswell, New Mexico both saw boosts in the ratings on Mar. 5. They weren’t alone, as the majority of scripted shows got boosts from their previous episodes. However, unscripted shows saw slumps — although probably nothing to worry about. Here are the Tuesday TV ratings for the week.

With the end of Lethal Weapon and The Gifted last week, FOX opted for a special, which means it’s hard to compare views. MasterChef Celebrity Showdown saw the lowest of the Big 4 networks, with 2.47 million people tuning in and a joint low (across all five networks) demo of 0.6. That special continued into the second hour of the night with only Roswell dipping lower in the demo and total audience (not surprising for The CW).

Speaking of The CW, ratings were mixed. The Flash returned from its month-long break to ratings that were down from the previous episode. This isn’t anything to worry about since the show has been renewed for another season and the show is still the highest rated on the network.

Meanwhile, Roswell, New Mexico ticked up from last week’s slump, likely partially due to The Flash airing a new episode. The demo ticked up by 50%, seeing the ratings jump back to 0.3, while the total audience jumped by 18% back over to the million.

There were also good results for The Rookie and New Amsterdam at 10 p.m. Both shows saw an upward tick in the views, with New Amsterdam taking the top spot with 5.87 million and 1.0 in the demo.

The Rookie jumped by 26% in the demo and 15% in the total audience, seeing the highest Tuesday TV ratings since its third episode. Is this too little too late, though, with five episodes left? ABC is still to make a decision.

NBC also, unsurprisingly, saw success with This Is Us. Despite a small downward tick in the demo, the show was the best scripted program of the night — all CBS programming was on a break — and the second highest ratings overall.

Closing off the look at the Mar. 5 TV ratings, it’s about the downward ticks. Both unscripted shows, The Voice and The Bachelor dropped in the ratings. However, the positive to take is that they were the top two in the 8 p.m. slot and The Voice was still the highest rated show of the night. I doubt there’s any reason to think NBC and ABC will cancel these two shows!
