Why we need more new monsters in Supernatural
The last few episodes of Supernatural Season 14 have introduced new monsters. We need more of these new creatures in the show.
Recent episodes of Supernatural Season 14 have given us monsters the Winchesters have never come across before. Episode 16 will see another creature they’ve never met and I can’t help but get excited. We need more of this in the show.
It can initially seem like we can’t get monsters we’ve never seen. After all, the show has been on for almost a full 14 seasons now. That’s a lot of lore and mythology to cover.

- Will The Winchesters be saved? (Can Supernatural fans save the prequel?)
- Did The Winchesters get renewed? (Is The Winchesters season 2 happening?)
- Is a new episode of The Winchesters on tonight? (March 14, 2023)

And the show certainly has covered plenty over the years. We’ve had Native American lore, European lore, Asian lore, and so much more. There’s been mythology that connects to various religions, especially the different Pagan religions around the world. But there’s still so much more to explore.
We just have to look at the last two episodes to see there’s still more lore to explore. Supernatural has only just scratched the surface.

But why bring more creatures and monsters in? Don’t we have enough? Definitely not! One of the strongest points of the first couple of seasons was the exploration into the universe. We got a chance to explore different urban legends and mythology, bringing us something fresh and exciting each episode. There was a chance to explore the writers’ twists to the storylines.
New monsters would help to move the story away from just angels and demons — and let’s be honest, as much as we love Castiel, the overall storylines are getting a little repetitive. Bringing in new monsters will give us something new to learn about, something new to explore.
The show could get a new lease on life. And any show can benefit from that, especially after 14 seasons.
Of course, to bring in new monsters, the episodes have to be done right. Noah Ophis could have been an intriguing creature, an excellent and memorable monster-of-the-week. In the end, he turned into a subpar storyline to give us half an episode. There is hope if the writers think about the creatures and put their own twists on the monsters a little like the earlier seasons.
