When Jack was introduced in Supernatural Season 13, Episode 1, he immediately connected with us. As time has gone on, he’s stolen our hearts. How has he managed it so well in Season 14?

For #ManCrushMonday today, I want to focus on Jack. Our nougat-loving nephilim very quickly got under our skin in a good way when he was introduced in Supernatural Season 13, Episode 1. As time has gone on, he’s stolen our hearts and Season 14, Episode 16 made us feel nothing but sadness and hope.

He finally had the chance to feel like he could make friends with people his own age — well, people who look his own age. He’s two…two-wenty…twenty-two, remember. — and he was eager to impress. That eagerness turned into danger.

I know some people are blaming Stacy for being injured because she ran, but I make it a habit of not blaming the victim. Fear makes you do silly things. Jack, with so little of his soul left and his lack of understanding of humans still, did a bad thing in the hope of impressing.

Yet, we feel deeply for him. We want him to be happy. He’s got under our skin, but how has he done that in two seasons?

It’s all about this need to be good. He doesn’t want to turn out evil and he’s constantly fighting with himself to be a better person. Taking inspiration from the Winchesters, he continually shows his growth and that human need to connect with other people. And it’s this innocent, completely human side of him that makes us want him to succeed.

We want to be his friend. Sure, he makes some silly mistakes while trying to make friends, but we’ve gotten to know him. And that’s all this trio in Supernatural Season 14 need to do. The more we’ve got to know him, the more we see him learning, adapting, and trying hard to fit in.

It’s hard when you’re two in the body of a teenager. He knows so little about the world.

We’ve also watched him connect with others. Take Kaia, for example. He managed to encourage Kaia to help the Winchesters after Dean had held a gun to her head. With his experience, he managed to connect with her fears and her apprehensions, while also sharing the good he’d seen in the Winchester brothers. Seeing this allowed us to connect to him even more.

Jack is one of those characters we naturally worry about the most. He’s already died once and he’s sacrificed the majority of his soul to save the Winchester brothers. Now we just have to hope that he’s not going to disappear permanently.
