SEAL Team introduced the possibility of Jason moving on and dating again in Season 2, Episode 15. Is it too soon for him after the death of his wife? It’s a topic up for debate.

Caution: There are spoilers for SEAL Team Season 2, Episode 15 in this post.

SEAL Team Season 2, Episode 15 introduced the possibility of Jason dating again. And it wasn’t just with anyone. Adam’s widow, Victoria, showed up and decided to ask him out on a date — and the moment she did was so sweet because he just didn’t get it at first. Once he did, he started to wonder whether the timing was right.

It’s only been a few months since Alannah’s death. It’s been even less time for Victoria dealing with the loss of Adam. Sure, moving on is expected eventually, but it’s not even been a year.

The argument for Jason is that he and Alannah had separated before her death. He still loved her but they were getting ready to divorce. Plus, as a soldier, he’d live in the moment. He would have no idea if he’d return from the next mission, seeing so many of his brothers die.

However, that doesn’t mean he’s ready for a relationship. Victoria surprised me the most, as the widow of a SEAL, was she really ready to move on again? Was it really the right time? She understood what the life as a SEAL’s wife was like but did that really mean she was ready to let her heart move on?

One thing I love about SEAL Team is that it touches on these real subjects. It doesn’t shy away just because there may be some controversy. This episode brought up the subject of dating and they both realized that things were awkward — and they weren’t quite ready for this next step.

While Victoria presumably went home, Jason went to a bar and hooked up with a girl. There were no names uttered. This was purely Jason in the moment, looking to fill a temporary void inside. He’s literally living in the moment. And this is the type of relationship I can get behind right now — he may be grieving still but he’s not a monk.

It’s just too soon for dating right now. Jason doesn’t just have himself to think about but his children and Emma and Mikey definitely aren’t ready for another woman in their dad’s life just yet. The only time I could see dating work this early is if it was Mandy.
