A Discovery of Witches premieres on AMC and BBC America tonight
If you don’t have Sundance Now or Shudder, you’ll have likely missed A Discovery of Witches. You don’t have to anymore. The premiere airs tonight on AMC and BBC America and here’s all you need.
Earlier this year, A Discovery of Witches debuted in the United States. The downside was that it only came to Sundance Now and Shudder. Those who didn’t want another streaming service missed out. However, there’s some excellent news right now.
BBC America and AMC are airing the episodes on a weekly basis. Tonight is the first night, bringing the first episode of the All Souls Trilogy adaptation. Based on the first novel in the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness, A Discovery of Witches will take you through the universe where witches, vampires, and demons live.

It all starts with Diana Bishop, a descendant of the first woman executed for witchcraft at the Salem Witch Trials. An Oxford professor, she gains the attention of all the magical beings in the area when she’s able to conjure an ancient magical manuscript. With witches, demons, and vampires now after her, it’s up to centuries-old Matthew Clairmont to protect her — now if only there wasn’t a strong connection forming between them that was illegal between the three species.

The first episode is focused on the first handful of chapters in “A Discovery of Witches.” It’s a chance to meet the characters, learn more about the universe, and find out why Diana is such a reluctant witch. Whether you’ve read the book or not, you’ll enjoy this series — and you’ll most definitely want to get the book series afterward.
