Supernatural Season 14 has certainly left us with a lot of questions for the final two episodes. The biggest is whether Jack can be saved.

Supernatural Season 14, Episode 18 confirmed something from the previous episode that we’d all feared. This led to the reminder that Jack is the most dangerous being in the world. All he has to do is choose to be evil and the Winchesters would have a serious fight ahead of them – a world-ending fight. Now the big question is whether there’s any hope that Jack can be saved.

It’s not looking likely. Jack has a devil in his mind — the devil in his mind. Lucifer is in his subconscious, manipulating him the way he did in the Apocalypse World. You would have thought Jack would have learned by now, but the moment at the end of Episode 18 makes it clear that he’s still trying to learn and he genuinely has no idea what or who to believe.

After the actions in Episode 17, he knows the Winchesters will be gunning for him. Instead of trying to explain, he knows he’s at risk of becoming the next monster for them to hunt, so he’s decided to turn away from them. And if they can’t trust him then he can’t trust them.

With that thought process, is there any way that he can be saved? In the promo for Episode 19, it looks like he’s going to listen to the angels. After all, they’re not going to lie to him, are they? They’re angels!

Well, it looks like he’s still being manipulated. All he wants is to be good. He doesn’t want to be anything like the monster Lucifer, his father, was. That means he wants to believe in the people who seem to have the same goals as him. Right now, that feels like the angels.

Yet, we know the angels are manipulative and awful. They don’t work for the greater good of the world but the greater good of themselves. They’ll push Jack into making decisions that benefit them. Eventually, he’s going to realize that he was lied to and manipulated again and he’ll take action because of that. And you just know it’s not going to be good action.

The only way to save him is by helping him figure out who is telling the truth. He can only be saved by getting control over his powers and understanding the world more. But he’s only two. Think about it; right now, he’s going through the Terrible Twos and he can’t just flick a switch to understand the world better.

Maybe the only way to save him is by having him remain in Heaven with angels that he can trust – maybe, Castiel or even Sister Jo? Maybe the best thing for him is to stay away from Earth or even have a world of his own.

The title “Jack in the Box” is ominous. When the title was released, it came at the time when Dean was creating the Ma’lak Box, suggesting that Jack would be the one to go into that box. Is that the only way to save him right now until he can be given a place of his own to keep the world safe or protect himself?
