Friday night saw mostly downward ticks in the ratings. The Blacklist’s two-hour special was mixed, Proven Innocent fell to a new low, but Dynasty ticked up. Here’s a look at the Friday TV ratings for April 26.

Some nights are just bad for TV ratings, and April 26 was one of those nights. The majority of TV shows that aired new episodes saw downward ticks, including Proven Innocent falling to a new low. However, Dynasty did see an upward tick in the Friday TV ratings.

Much of the Friday night lineup is still waiting on renewal and cancellation decisions. For this week’s Friday TV ratings, I’ll focus on the shows that are still on the bubble. That means not looking at the specials, including the NFL 2019 drafts on ABC or the reruns that FOX and The CW showed at various points in the night.

However, it’s worth making a note about The Blacklist, which has already been renewed for a seventh season. The first hour saw an upward tick and the second hour — which was arguably the most important for secrets being revealed and saw Lotte Verbeek’s excellent performance — dipped. Could the 8 p.m. slot be an excellent move from next week?

As for the 8 p.m. slot, only MacGyver remains on the bubble and saw a 15% loss in the demo and 7% loss in the total audience. It continues to remain one of CBS’ weakest shows and the demo drop is now an all-time low. I’m still on the fence about whether the series will see a fourth season.

Moving into the 9 p.m. slot, we’ll look at Hawaii Five-0, another show still on the bubble. I don’t think this series will be canceled unless there are problems with contract negotiations. While the series lost 4% of its audience, it gained 7% in the demo and matched the renewed Blue Bloods for the top spot of the night.

FOX aired a new episode of freshman series Proven Innocent, which dropped to a series low. Losing 21% of its demo, it’s now at The CW’s levels. The 7% loss in the total in the total audience continues to put it in danger. I doubt we’ll see a second season.

NBC finished off the night with Dateline at 10 p.m. While there was a 9% drop in the demo, the total audience was relatively steady from the previous episode. I think this will remain a staple of the Friday night lineup next season.
