Supernatural Season 15 is set to be the end and there’s a huge wishlist. One of those items is for Eric Kripke to return, but is it possible?

Eric Kripke remains an integral part of the Supernatural fandom. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t even have the show, so despite him leaving as showrunner at the end of Season 5, we still owe a debt of gratitude. It’s not surprising that among the wishlist for the Supernatural final season, we would love to see the creator return to the series.

Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done. Kripke is a busy man, with his new series The Boys debuting on Amazon Prime Video at the end of the month. But he likely wouldn’t let that get in the way of a return. In fact, he’s more than happy to return at least for the finale if there wasn’t one thing getting in the way.

More from Supernatural

According to an interview with TVLine, it’s all about his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television. This deal prevents him from going elsewhere, even just for an episode on his former series. While Sony could give him permission, it’s unlikely considering the television studio that makes Supernatural. Sony and Warner Bros. are two warring TV studios.

However, that doesn’t mean Eric Kripke can’t have some sort of involvement. He is going to chat with current showrunners Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb. He’ll want to work with them on the finale, knowing that the final send-off has to be good for the series and for the fans. Kripke wants to make sure that everyone is happy, and this ending has a place close to his heart.

Whether that will be the death of one or both characters or seeing them just continuing the fight isn’t clear. Maybe they’ll get to have their apple pie life that was a dream once upon a time. We’ll have to wait and see!
