Jensen Ackles starts work on Supernatural Season 15
Production on Supernatural Season 15 is officially underway. Jensen Ackles and Jim Michaels have started their work, suggesting a start date for filming.
It’s officially the beginning of the end of Supernatural. Work on Season 15 has begun, with Jensen Ackles and Jim Michaels starting the pre-filming steps for the first episode to be filmed. This also gives us an idea of when filming will start.
Michaels tweeted that he and Ackles were scouting for locations for filming. We know that Ackles is directing the episode, which may be the first to film but will be the fourth episode to air. Making sure it’s the first episode to film is important so one of the main stars has time to prep since he’ll also be filming.

The pre-filming work gives us an idea of when the actual filming of Season 15 will begin. The scouting usually takes place a couple of days before the filming begins, so we’re looking at July 15 as a projected filming date.
This date makes sense and is roughly when previous seasons have filmed. The cast and crew are together for about a week before San Diego Comic-Con, meaning they have something to chat about while there.

While it’s exciting to see the cast and crew back to work, it’s a bittersweet time. In previous seasons, we’ve not had to deal with the fact that this is the beginning of the end. Season 15 is the last season of the show, so there are a lot of “final” moments mentioned. It’s not going to be easy this time next year with no filming to look out for.
