Eric Kripke strikes gold: The Boys renewed ahead of release
The Boys hasn’t even dropped on Amazon Prime Video yet and it’s already been renewed. The former Supernatural showrunner, Eric Kripke, has struck gold.
One of the worst things for a showrunner is being in limbo, not knowing if your show will be picked up for another season. With the way streaming services are acting, getting axed after a couple of years has become common and not all make it through a season. Eric Kripke and co. don’t have to worry about the future of The Boys for now.
During its SDCC 2019 panel, The Boys announced that the second season was officially happening. And not only that, but that it was already in production. That means it was quietly renewed and all based on the hype of the series.

The hype is certainly justified. I’ll bring some reviews over the next few days, but The Boys has quickly turned into my favorite superhero TV show on television right now. It’s completely different to anything you’ve seen before, and an excellent adaptation of the source material.

Along with the news for the renewal, a new cast member is joining the team. Aya Cash is suiting up as Stormfront, who will become another member of the Seven. How when there’s already seven of them? You’ll get to see when you watch the series.

The news comes ahead of the first season even being released. It’s excellent news for the whole cast and crew, but especially for our own Kripke. While Supernatural is entering its 15th season, there were plenty of times that it looked like it would be canceled in the earlier years. Timeless was canceled, brought back, and then canceled again. This shows that Kripke has struck gold.
