Supernatural isn’t the only show coming to an end on The CW in the upcoming season. Arrow is ending too, and Ruby 1.0 is stepping behind the camera in her directorial debut.

Arrow and Supernatural have a few things in common. They both share a few stars/guest stars and they’re both coming to an end during the upcoming season. One star they both have in common is Katie Cassidy, and she’s finally getting her chance to step behind the camera.

Cassidy, who is best known as Ruby 1.0 to Supernatural fans, will make her directorial debut on Arrow Season 8, Episode 3. The actress shared a photo of her clapboard for the episode on Instagram, along with the title “Leap of Faith.” It may have a double meaning as Cassidy takes a leap of faith in her own abilities behind the camera.

Filming on the episode began on Aug. 2. Usually, the shows take a break over the weekend, so she’ll still be directing the episode now.

Arrow Season 8 episodes are paying homage to earlier seasons, according to Comicbook.com. Nobody has shared what the third episode pays homage to, but the title is based on a Bruce Springsteen song, something that many episode titles are usually based on. However, this is only the first time since Season 2 that the episode with the Springsteen title isn’t the penultimate episode of a season.

Cassidy isn’t the only Arrowverse or even the only CW actor stepping behind the camera in the upcoming season. Supergirl‘s Melissa Benoist and Legends of Tomorrow‘s Caity Lotz are making their directorial debuts. We know that Jensen Ackles has directed another episode of Supernatural for the final season. In the 2018-2019 season, we’ve seen Danielle Panabaker, David Ramsey, Malcolm Goodwin, and many more step behind the camera from CW shows.
