5 best Alexander Calvert moments from Supernatural Season 14
Alexander Calvert had many strong moments throughout Supernatural Season 14. Here are my five favorite moments throughout the season.
Supernatural Season 14 saw some extremely hard moments for Jack. They would have taken a lot of preparation for Alexander Calvert. After looking at Jack’s best moments last week, it’s time to look at Calvert’s best moments from Season 14 this week.
Many of these are from some of his most emotional episodes. Trying to play emotions genuinely is difficult. Some actors make you feel everything that their characters are feeling, and that’s something I felt throughout the season from Calvert.
Here are the five moments that stand out the most for me from Alexander Calvert in Supernatural Season 14.
5. Continued innocence
It can’t be easy portraying this kid with all this innocence. However, there’s a scene that stands out in Supernatural Season 14. When he’s running errands for Dean during “Don’t Go Into the Woods,” Jack comes across the three kids from “Lebanon.” He immediately wants to fit in.
We get these moments of innocence as he tells them what he does, his age (he’s two…two-enty…twenty-two…right?), and how he can help them. Most of us laughed out loud during his scene in the shop. How hard would it have been for Calvert to keep a straight face? That takes skill.
4. Tackling death

Episode 8 has come up in each of the actor best moments posts, I think. It is a powerful episode, and Alexander Calvert showed his skills when it came to his death. He was scared, not just of death but of what came after it. And he didn’t want to be alone.
At the same time, he didn’t want the Winchesters and Castiel to be sad. He’d purposely hidden his deterioration from them because he didn’t want them focusing their efforts on helping him. Calvert managed to get all these emotions into one scene, showing off his skills as an actor.

3. Struggling with emotions
After using up his soul to protect his family, Jack struggled with what to do. He tried to make friends, he tried to be good, but in the end, he just didn’t feel anything.
Playing soulless was one of the hardest things Jared Padalecki has ever done. It’s difficult to connect to anything that helps you play this. Alexander Calvert managed to dig deep and figure out a way to do it for a few episodes, while also including some emotion when he had a bit of his soul left or when he tried to fit in.
2. Losing control
There were many occasions that Jack lost controlled, but the one I’m thinking of is at the end of “Game Night.” He and Mary find Nick, and Jack completely loses it. He kills Nick in an awful way, and Mary is shocked and scared.
When Mary tries to get through to him, Jack freaks out and accidentally uses his powers to kill Mary Winchester. It was one of those OMG moments, as the scene slowly built up to this point. You could see the subtler signs of cracking up to the big moment, and it’s a powerful moment that made my heart go out to Jack despite it all. That makes an excellent actor moment.
1. Everything with Kelly
The best moment has to be the scenes with Courtney Ford in Episode 8. This was an episode with a lot of strong moments for Alexander Calvert, and one of those has already made this list. But this moment is the one that stands out the most.
It would be easy to overlook this with all the powerful scenes we’d seen over the season. This is a quieter one, and sometimes they’re harder to play. Jack had to show so many emotions in a short space of time, and many of those emotions were subtle.
We’re talking the shock and happiness of seeing Kelly, but also the knowledge that he was dead. He had to show the fear of what would come next, especially with the Empty around, and the longing to stay with his mom but also go back to his three dads. It wouldn’t have been easy, and Alexander Calvert oozed it all.
