With Season 10 of Bob’s Burgers almost here, some of us need a refresher while others are just starting out but where’s the best place to begin?

Starting a new show isn’t always easy. Whether it’s premiering soon like Season 10 of Bob’s Burgers or has a huge fan base like Game of Thrones, finding a new show to add into your rotation isn’t easy. Thankfully, Bob’s Burgers is one of those shows that you can basically start watching whenever. You might miss some of the jokes or character development but other than that, you’re golden.

Since Bob’s Burgers has no continuity, it’s a good show to start binge-watching. However, with Season 10 premiering Sept. 29, some of us either need a refresher or some want to know where they can start to pick up where season 10 starts. The obvious answer would be to start from the beginning and that’s true but it might be hard to get the entire series done within a week’s span.

With nine seasons featuring 20-25 episodes, it’s not always practical. Regardless if you’re looking to watch Season 10 or want to be a casual Bob’s Burgers watcher, then have no fear because this guide is for you. I won’t be going season by season but rather, feature episodes that are some of their best work or might bleed into Season 10 somehow.

More from FOX

Of course, I’d be remiss to not mention starting with Season 9. As the latest season of the show, this is where most people would start. Fans of the show might want to get a refresher on what happened last season while others might just want to jump right in there. Season 9 garnered mixed reviews from critics and fans so keep that in mind if you plan on starting there.

Moving away from Season 9, there are some stand-out episodes that casual fans will enjoy. Even if you’re not fully committed to the show yet, these episodes are bound to impress. Starting with Season 1, “Sexy Dance Fighting” is the stand-out with as the first unofficial Tina-centric episode in which she tries out capoeira and the results are mixed. Some other great early episodes are “Beefsquatch” in which Gene wears his signature burger suit and a sasquatch mask along with “O.T.: The Outside Toilet,” in which the show parodies E.T. but with a toilet.

Looking past the stand-out episodes from early seasons, Bob’s Burgers is also well-known for its holiday episodes. No matter what holiday is coming up, you’re bound to find an episode and they’re always a good place to start. Every year, their holiday episodes seem to get better and better. With Halloween coming up, “The Hauntening” arguably remains the best Halloween episode the show has produced.

If holidays aren’t your thing, then maybe you’ve seen some about the characters. The show has a plethora of episodes focusing on a major storyline for each character. For Tina, Louise and Gene, there is any number of episodes to choose from. For Bob, there’s “Glued, Where’s My Bob?” which is labeled as the quintessential Bob’s Burgers episode among others. As for Linda, “Lindapendent Woman” features Linda at her best but sadly, there aren’t as many Linda-centric episodes out there.

Looking at the latter half of the series, Bob’s Burgers has produced some of its best episodes ever. Thus far, I’ve only really talked about Seasons 1-3 with a few random episodes thrown in from other seasons. However if you’re looking for quality episodes from Seasons 4-9, then here are a few suggestions from each season.

Three stand-outs from Season 4 are “The Frond Files,” “The Equestranauts” and the 2-part season finale. Season 5 pays homage to the 1980s with “Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl” along with “Hawk & Chick” and “The Gayle Tales.” Season 6 has “Glued, Where’s My Bob?” as already mentioned,  “The Horse Rider-er” and “Bye Bye Boo Boo.”

Moving onto Season 7, there is “There’s No Business Like Mr. Business Business” which features John Oliver, “Paraders of the Lost Float” and “Like Gene for Chocolate.” Season 8 is probably my favorite season so I would recommend them all but three of the best are “Cheer Up, Sleepy Gene,” “Mission Impos-slug-ble” and “Something Old, Something New, Something Bob Caters for You.” Wrapping up with season 9, the last three are “Lorenzo’s Oil? No, Linda’s,” “Roamin’ Bob-iday” and “Every Which Way but Goose.”

Regardless if you’re watching Bob’s Burgers for the 1st time or the 100th time, there is a little something for everyone. Even if you only watch 1 episode from this list, it doesn’t matter as you gave the show a chance. While it’s best to start at the beginning, this should help make the show less intimidating if you want to dip your toe into the series.
