 4. Those were memories

One of the fun facts we all gained on Supernatural this time is that all those flashes Sam was seeing during his Chuck wound connection were not Chuck’s ideas of ways to turn the brothers against each other. Well, sort of.

Obviously, he could be lying (againnnn), but Chuck claimed that those terrible flashes we all fretted about with Sam killing Dean and Dean killing Sam, were not rough drafts, as Dean put it, but rather memories.

Chuck says these were glimpses of the ways that other Sams and Deans chose to end their stories. All of the scenes we saw actually happened in Chuck’s other stories. It fits, of course, because they were all scenes that could have happened with the material we were given in the past on Supernatural.

With Dean killing Sam while he suffered The Mark, Dean killing Sam when Sam was Lucifer, and more, all of these moments could have come to pass on our storyline, had the brothers not resisted. But that’s what makes our pair special, Chuck’s self-proclaimed favorites.

Dean told Chuck that he’s crazy and this isn’t what’s going to happen to this Sam and this Dean. And so far, that’s been the truth. If all these other worlds ended with one brother deciding to take the other out, Dean could be right about them. Chuck said that’s what they all said, but so far, they’ve outlasted the lot of them. I expect that will continue to be the case.

I also want to point out a quick funny here. Dean told Chuck to “go back to Earth 2” and play with his other toys. For me, as a fan of The CW and its other stories, I found this statement amusing since we’re running alongside the storyline of Crisis on Infinite Earths, where Earth 2 is a very significant and real place in the multiverse. Sort of a quick crossover by mention. Cool.

3. It’s time

Supernatural didn’t really surprise us with Jack waking up in The Empty right away after Chuck sent him packing. But they certainly have made us wait to find out what Billie had to say to him when she greeted him there.

Although we saw Alexander Calvert return very quickly to the screen, it wasn’t as Jack and we’ve been caught between waiting patiently and impatiently. And not to mention, the incredible number of possible return ideas for him have us hoping for his return as Jack in every episode.

More from Supernatural

Will he save us? Will he be an angel of Death now? Will he be with the Winchesters or the bearer of bad tidings? I’m anxious, and finally, we see that he’s on his way.

I’m still wondering though, what to expect. When we first saw him standing there in  last moments of “The Trap,” he had that innocent look on his face that branded Jack into our hearts from day one. However, the moment Billie told him, “it’s time,” he suddenly had the look of someone who had a job to do.

I’m not particularly sure he’s going to enjoy it very much, but he has been one to do what he has to do, almost always. And one thing I know will never change is that he considers Sam and Dean and Castiel to be his family and his friends. Whatever we’re about to see, at least we can be pretty sure he truly believes it’s in their best interest, and he probably doesn’t have much choice.
