A breakdown of the live TV ratings on broadcast on Wednesday, Nov. 18

The Masked Singer had a double elimination and For Life Season 2 premiered. It’s time to look into the TV ratings for broadcast on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

It was a full night of new episodes, although the ending of three episodes came with bad news. All three One Chicago shows are now off until January 2021, but new episodes of other shows will continue.

Double elimination on The Masked Singer

More from Ratings

Let’s start with FOX’s live TV ratings. Wednesday nights are always good for the network, with The Masked Singer‘s double elimination putting it in first place in the demo with a 1.6 rating, steady from the last episode. The total audience was also steady, and came in behind the three One Chicago shows.

I Can See Your Voice ticked up in both metrics, with the demo up 11% to 1.0. It won the timeslot and matched Chicago Med‘s demo from the hour before.

There’s nothing to worry about when it comes to The Masked Singer. While I Can See Your Voice has had its bad weeks, it’s performed well enough in the demo that I think this show will get another season.

The three One Chicago shows won the night in the audience. Chicago Med took the top spot with 7.62 million viewers, even though it was down 2% from the premiere. The demo was down 16% in the demo, but remained in second overall.

Chicago Fire ticked down 10% in the demo but was up 4% in the audience, winning the timeslot in that metric. Chicago PD was down 20% in the demo and 3% in the audience, but easily won the timeslot.

The three shows have nothing to worry about. Even though fans are annoyed that the shows are already going on a break after just two episodes (it’s all COVID related, so that’s what you should blame), the shows were renewed for three seasons each back in January. There are two guaranteed seasons after this.

For Life Season 2 premiere live TV ratings

ABC stuck with its night of comedy before leading into the For Life Season 2 premiere. Things started with The Goldbergs facing a 25% dip in the demo and 4% dip in the total audience. While American Housewife remaind steady in the demo, it was down 9% in the total audience.

The dips continued with The Conners and black-ish. What about For Life Season 2?

The premiere did see a 45% in the demo and 40% dip in the total audience compared to the series premiere last year. The drops from a series premiere aren’t all that surprising. It was down from the Season 1 finale, but the drops weren’t as big. The final had seen a big tick up from the previous episodes, though. The Season 2 premiere was closer to the middle of the season.

The comedy lineup isn’t too concerning. The biggest concern is going to be black-ish, but there are a few spin-offs, which helps the franchise overall. old-ish is the latest spin-off planned.

For Life is concerning, but we’ll want to see how that series stabilizes.

CBS and The CW to round out the night

The Amazing Race saw a 14% dip in the demo, struggling up against The Masked Singer and Chicago Med. The second episode dipped further.

This is a reality show that’s on the bubble. Is the cost of production enough to accept the lower ratings? The series is usually a midseason one, so CBS may take that into account.

SWAT fell too. It lost 25% of its demo and 14% of its total audience. This is a show that was struggling last season and was planned for the midseason. It was pulled forward to fall because Survivor couldn’t film. It’s going to be a bubble show this season.

Devils on The CW dropped 23% in the total audience. I can’t see the series being renewed for a second season right now. It’s one of the lowest-performing shows on The CW.
